The asus K8V deluxe had the same problem, I think you're outta luck on this one.
Just get the noisiest drive you can and then overide the quiet drive settings, you'll know when it's active then.
Sorry, unhelpful I know but Asus never did connect the sata HDD led up so I think Gb might have done a similar trick.

yep all
could be they fxed in in an update for the bios?
i think i might have remembered it not happening before, but i cant be sure.
hey myros
if you have some guts run one of the HDD programs from a manufacter and disable AAM (advac. audio manag. or some such) on the drive, you should be able to hear it seek then.
BE CAREFUL DONT KILL YOUR DRIVE

I have 2x SATA drives and 1x standard IDE CDROM.
My HDD LED worked fine when I got my SATAs and had been working fine for several months until I took my computer on a trip 100 miles from here to a LAN party, where I found my HDD LED was now permanately on. I also had issues with my SATA 10,000 RPM drive (C:\) which required me to disconnect / reconnect it's data cable to / from both the motherboard and the drive its-self.
Long story short, both drives work 100% fine, I even did a full scandisk + defrag, I disconnected / reconnected the HDD LED cable, I even tried reconnecting the HDD LED connector the wrong way around onto the motherboard which only resulted in the HDD LED being permanately off, this was to be expected.
Please can someone tell me what might have gone wrong and how to restore my HDD LED to its former working condition?

My board won't show SATA device usage until there are no IDE hard drives...if there were its only the IDE HDD usage displayed
