Boot up the system only using the new RAM. I'm thinking somebody screwed up and gave you 333 RAM.

I think what daedal is saying is to take out the old RAM then boot your system with the new RAM and see if it's showing at 333 or 400mhz. If you've got PC2700 and PC3200 in your system it'll only show up as slower 333mhz. By isolating the new ram you can see if someone sold you the wrong stuff.

Many motherboards defaults at 333mhz when you're populating all ramslots...(don't ask me why though :P )

I noticed in your specs that you have a P4 3.0 Ghz CPU, but what motherboard do you use? As Asmoday has suggested some boards will not work when all the ramslots are used up (can't remember which one specifically atm).

System Specs

You need single sided chipsbe able to populate all 4 slots, nothing will fix your issue!

It’s a limitation of thecurrent memory controllers the new AMD64 core “Venice” addresses and fixes the issue. You can use 4 single sided sticks because they use 1 bank only or a mix. Double sided sticks are double bank! When all banks are filled the ram is dropped to T2 and 333 FSB…

512 single sided = 1 bank of 512
512 double sided = 2 banks of 256

imagine that a board has 4 slots and 8 banks, when all 8 are filled the setting drop into a
compatibility mode.
