wireless ethernet card
ok ive been trying to help my cousin set up a wireless network of 2 computers. im doing this over the phone so it isn't exactly easy. the setup is of two computers one with the router and cable modem plugged into and a second computer with a wirless PCI ethernet card to connect to the internet (unsure of the makes of these P something had never heard of it).
they have the computer with the router attached set up ok and can access the net but having troubled with the other. not sure what make it is but u have to install the drivers first then put the card in. the drivers install fine then when the card is put it they get a black screen wih the cursor in the top left corner just after the hewlett packard startup screen. and nothing it just hangs there.
thought it might be a conflict with other network devices which are listed under network adapters in device manager (some 1394 thing and a realtek card) so i unistalled both them and the same thing happens. was trying to get them disabled in the BIOS but they really arent' computer literate and cant seem to find any menu's in the BIOS (does anyone no where these are listed in a hewlett packard BIOS as there doesn't appear to be a peripherals menu or something like that)
so the main problem is this black screen on startup - does anyone have any advice or suggestions its not too easy doing this over the phone. thnks in advacne for any help and apologies for speeling and long winded explanation.
cheers.
