my computer turns off by it self after 5 ,6 second when i turn it on, i dont get the chance to get any error or nothing it just turns off completely .i dont tkink it's due to overheating cuz i bought a brand new video card ,and i even tested with my old ati radeon 9800xt.what could it be ?damaged power supply or damaged memory?now it won't turn on at all. i really need your help this time guys!

could be a good idea also to remove the graphics card and memory then replacing them,making sure everything is seated properly.

if you have 2 256 sticks of ram,try a single one at a time to start of with.

a small piece of advice,it's best not to try and pressurise people into answering you're question,you're more likely to be ignored that way,trust me i have done this myself and all you tend to get is sarcastic answers.it is the weekend afterall and dh does tend to be quite during these times.

thanks mig-31 u always help me alot.i tried that already,im at my brother's house seeking for help cuz my pc won't work at all anymore.i bought my nvidia6800gt 4 days ago and now this .the problem is not the video card cuz the same thing is happening even when i use my radeon 9800xt,i have only one memory stick so i can't try a single one at a time.i remember that last night b4 it all started i've got the error message saying something about low battery,im very confused.

curious what psu do you have?.did you also check all the psu cables,mainly the motherboard cables.

not postive on the comment about the battery,i think that keeps the time going within the bios when a system is shut down(mainly).could be worth replaicing the battery but id try and get youre system running first.

How far into the boot up do you get,bios boot information or windows boot screen.

i have a cheap 400wpsu ,sometimes it gets to the windows boot screen , sometimes it gets only to the bios boot information, sometimes it won't turn on at all.i bought this pc about 2 months ago so everything is new specially the video card.i'll see if a can get a new battery tomorrow and i'll let u know when i get sorted and tell u what the problem really was.thanks

To me it sounds like it's the motherboard is bad. Check the motherboard's capacitors, see if they're bubbled or coroded. If they are, then your board is dead and that is what is giving you your problems. This is usually caused by low quality PSUs. You said your PSU is low quality, so that might be a cause for it. If it's not your MoBo, it still might be your PSU that is causing you the problem. If you can, try another gfx card that does not require it's own molex adapter.

Check cables, change power supplies if you can, and only run the system barebones. If it happens after, it's likely a mobo issue like CD mentioned.

yep see if it powers up with just the memory and cpu, NOTHING ELSE. If you boot up to the bios screen its your psu. If the same thing happens then I would check your components in a different machine. It does sound like its a mobo issue. If you can get into the bios check and see if your temps are ok. Cause it could be a cpu problem too. If your mobo is new then the chances that the cmos battery is bad is slim but worth a shot.

Have a look at the event log too, you might find something interesting in there

did you reformat when you made the switch from ati to nvidia?

when you change makers on a graphics card it is always a good idea to reformat.

Too bad I didn't see this earlier my first thougts were reseat you CPU cooler, try another card but that it would most likey be the 150W video card you installed drawing way to much from your PSU.

The cheap ones are aften marked 400W really mean 300-350W constant load, 400W PEAK (short time only, like a few seconds)

BTWE: What PSU did you get?

u gonna call me crazy but i got a dr.hank 350w , the system is very stable at the moment .
