??? What's an AMD Sempron processor ?

What's an AMD Sempron Processor exactly?
Is it simular to an Intel Celeron?

I bought an new pc ,almost comlete (without monitor) for 300 Euro,
a Pc with an AMD sempron 1.5 Mhz Processor for my Youngest son,
and a MSI 6800 Graph. Card, 250 Euro

I Overclocked the Amd from 1.5 Ghz @ 2009 Mhz.
The 6800 Core @ 440Mhz, Mem @880 Mhz
The machine runs rock stable .
And running Half Life 2 ,Cmr 2005,Far Cry ,Doom3, NFS 2 without problems, or stuttering.
Running @ 1024 x 786 - 100 Hz.

I think this Sempron is powerfull tough.

it is similar to the celeron in respect to the fact that its a budget cpu, and they reduce the cache to make it cheaper (cache is like super fast memory on the cpu chip). basically its like the amd thoroughbred b's which performed pretty well until the athlon 64s came out. they're not the fastest out there, but as you say, they can still run modern games ok see http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=2139 for a good article

System Specs

Socket A the old line up:
XP barton 333 mhz buss L1 128k(64+64), , L2 512k (up to 2.2 ghz)
XP 266 mhz buss L1 128k (64+64), L2 256k,
the duron (XP cut down) 266 mhz buss L1 64, L2 64k (up to like 1.3 ghz)

The duron used to be the celleron comepitior, XP the P4 competitor

Socket A the Current line up:
XP barton 333 or 400 mhz buss L1 128k(64+64), , L2 512k (up to 2.2 ghz)
sempron (XP) 333 mhz buss L1 128k (64+64), L2 256k
Duron (Apple bread) (like 1.6ghz / 1.8 ghz) 266 mhz buss L1 64k , L2 64k,

Basically it's and AND XP cpu updated with a 333 FSB ment to compete with the new "intel celleron D line" it does that verry well but also out paces quite a few stright P4's... The duron still hold up the lower end vs older cellerons...
