VIA or Promise

What do you guys think for setting up a RAID 0? I am reformatting because its been awhile and I have alot of crap on my Raptors. Now I currently have the RAID set up on the VIA controller and my other SATA HD setup on the Promise controller. It has been a great setup so far but what do you guys think. Would it be better to use the Promise for the RAID and the VIA for the single HD? I have read that the Promise is kinda flakey so I dunno? Any sugestions?

I would leave it the way you have it setup. VIA Raid is a lot faster and doesn't hog the pci bus. You have it setup the best way

Oh no what did I do. OK i created the RAID 0 array and made it the boot array. I made the RAID disk to use when you go to install windows and hit F6. Now it says that Windows already has a driver that it can use or you can use the one provided by the manufacturer. Well I told it to use the one by the manufacturer. Now when it goes into installing windows it says "Setup cannot copy the file: viasraid.sys" it then says you can retry to which it comes back to the same screen. If you tell it to skip it comes back and says "Setup cannot copy the file: viasraid.inf" if you tell it to skip that one it comes back and says "Setup cannot copy the file: viasraid.cat" What is up with that? is that because its using the VIA ones and not the ones on disk or something?

sounds like the disk you had the drivers on was a little dodgy

Yeah, try another floppy and always use the drivers you have on the disk. If it still doesn't work with a new floppy try rebuilding the array
