RAM choices - Help please
I'm not into overclocking at the moment but once I build my new system I should expect to be curiously tweaking whatever I can lay my hands on. I don't see that great a benefit of DDR2 over DDR, and I would like to keep my choice under $AU300. The mobo I'm interested in (Gigabyte K8NXP-9) supports 4GB of dual-channel DDR400.
I would like your advice on appropriate brands and models of DDR RAM that are stable, powerful and have an average to high overclocking ability.
I'm under the impression that the CPU has an effect on RAM performace so I'm interested in a socket 939 AMD Athlon64 3200+ or 3500+
Here's what I've found sofar:
1) 1024MB (2X512MB) TWINX-3200C2 DDR RAM Corsair
2) 1024MB (2X512Mb) PC3200 DDR RAM Kingston
3) 512MB PC3200 DDR400 Mushkin
Also some questions:
1) If a specific mobo supports DDR400, does that mean I can buy superior models (i.e. DDR433 - If that even exists)
2) If a specific mobo supports DDR ram, does that mean I cannot buy DDR2 in the future?
Any help is appreciated.
