Some Wireless Network Trouble
I wasn't quite sure where to put this problem into.. so I stuck it in the forum with the word modem in it
Anyway, I have a WMP54G and I am currently having trouble keeping a constant connection with the router. I know it is my software on my computer, because it was only yesterday where I had a constant 54mb/s connection. Now I have a usual 11mb/s to 5.5mb/s. I know it is a problem with software because it has done this before, although it was usually fixed with a simple dirver reinstallation. But this time it hasnt.. I think it is a problem with Windows not commmunicating with anything and not bringing the speed back up, because it drops from 54 to 11 very rapidly... then after a short while it will disconnect and make me reconnect to the network. Anyone know what is wrong? A Possible Solution?

Well, I didnt actually fully describe my problems with this. In addition to the above problems, I also get constant dropouts, (ITS NOT THE SIGNAL FROM THE ROUTER) and extremely slow internet speeds... (for example - Over 30 secs to load up www.google.com). Any help will be extremely appreciated, as this thing is pissing me off beyond belief .
Also, the internet has dropped out twice while I was typing this. And It makes me think back to the times when I used to have trouble connecting to the network during LAN parties, I would get problems like Unable to Resolve IP address, like I do sometimes now, like it doesn't even care if I'm connected to the internet or not... almost as if it forgets....

Its propobly the wireless zero configuration service in windows xp its a unreliable piece of junk one quick fix is to stop and then restart the service, another way is chose whatever wireless utility which came with wireless card to take full control of wireless and disable windows from contolling wireless.

It has been around for two days now, a while ago I had the same problem and it lasted for about two weeks that time.

So.. I'm guessing by now it's pretty much a hopeless effort to attempt to repair this thing to its normal state of a connection that is worth having... I've even tried getting Linksys to give some help but all they give is stuff I've already tried. Is it possible that someone here might have an idea? Other than the ones already said?

Ok.... I really don't know why I didnt try this before.. I changed the PCI slot the Wireless card was in and it seemingly solved my problem. I still get some times where my connection slows down, but they only last like a minute I'm quite happy now actually.
