Motherobard and CPU choice
First post here and just wanting to say thanks in advance.
Ive done some research on different sites as well as these forums and just have a couple of questions.
Im going to buy a new motherboard and CPU next week, moving from the 754 3000+ to a socket 939 CPU/mobo. Im going to stick with PCI/AGP right now, as I cant afford to buy another video card (bought a 6800GT awhile back) to fit with the PCI-E boards. I think Ive settled on the MSI K8N Neo2 board and a 3200+ Winchester CPU. Ive got 1GB (2x512) of Corsair XMS PC3200 ram (not sure of the timings right now).
Im waiting to hit 3500+ speeds (i know this isnt a huge oc). Do you think this would be possible with the setup im looking at? I would probably go with the XP-90 HSF.
Thanks!
Edit: Found the RAM Specs ..

I'm no AMD guru, but that looks VERY feasible...my old 1800+ did 2100+ on air.....so I see now reason you can't hit that

The Winchester 3200+ will easily reach 3500+ speed (from 2.0 GHz to 2.2).
Heck, your current 3000+ has a good chance of doing that too.
The Winchester 3200+ will be able to go higher though.

I don´t personnally think you gonna gain so much with that HW-change, other then a thinner wallet, and a bigger ego

I got my stuff yesterday. Easily overclocked to 3500+ speeds. I actually do see a bit of difference. The system overall just feels faster, games run a bit faster, etc. It was a good upgrade to me, I moved to a platform that AMD will hopefully stick with for awhile, dual channel ddr support, etc. Im happy

of course dual channel memory will make a nice difference but that upgrade won't really boost your computer alot... it will but it won't be a huge difference to what you were running before
