Which one is best--AMD 64 3000+ or Intel 3.0E H/T
Which one is best--AMD 64 3000+ or Intel 3.0E H/T and Why?
I might go for AMD 64 3000+. Is it would be a right decision?

Gaming, watching DVDs, listening Musics. Overclocking is not so important for me.

Then you should take the Athlon 64. Faster in gaming and cheaper!

I'd recommend the Newcastle. It is 2000 MHz, unlike the Winchester which is 1800 MHz.
But, the Newcastle is a socket-754 chip, while the Winchester is a socket-939 chip.
Socket 939 has the advantage of having dual-channel memory support, but the extra clockspeed on the Newcastle would be of more benefit.
Also, Socket 939 will be around longer. If you are the type of person who goes through multiple processor upgrades on the same motherboard, you would probably want to have a socket-939 chip and motherboard, so get the Winchester. But, if you are the type of person who upgrades less often, and usually buys a new motherboard with a CPU upgrade anyway, you can get the socket-754 chip (Newcastle) without apprehension.
Hope that helps.

On Newegg, the Newcastle is a few bucks cheaper.
They should be more or less the same price wherever you shop.

Go with the AMD chip, I dont rate the prescotts, too hot and they underperform unless you overclock, which you wont be doing.

Well can't he get a northwood with a 478 MOBO? I mean, they aren't OUT of the running yet... Soon but worse come worse, just get a 3.4EE when the price drops!

The 939 is the more futureproof solution. socket 478 is basically dead. socket 775 would require pci express, ddr2, etc. Go for the AMD 939.

the 754 is going to be discontinued earlier than the 939. spending a little more now will give you more longevity. penny wise, pound foolish.

I doubt the price will ever drop to a reasonable level, those processors cost too much to make.

As I said: "Socket 939 has the advantage of having dual-channel memory support, but the extra clockspeed on the Newcastle would be of more benefit.
Also, Socket 939 will be around longer. Only you can decide what is right for you.

Is it possible to use more than one 64bit processor in 939 MOBO?
Which create more speed--dual channel memory support or the extra clockspeed--that means which one is more speedy--Winchester or Newcastle?

Both socket 939 cpu`s, winchester and newcastle have dual channel. single channel and more clockspeed is the newcastle on socket 754

1. No, you can use only one CPU.
