New P4 Slot T motherboard
Ok looking for a new motherboard as i am getting a p4 3.4 using the new slot t for really cheap. The problem is i want to stick with my current ram and video card. I have PC2700 1 gig and an AGP 9800 np. I just want to keep it cheap so really do not want to switch to DDR2 and PCIe but not sure what to buy. I have seen 2 Motherboards that have both PCIe and agp but not sure about them. so my question is what is everyones opionion on MB and if i should just bite the bullet and get PCIe... the only catch is i can NOT afford to get new ram or hardrive so it has to support pc2700 and IDE.

If you want to move to PCIe and keep your DDR ram get a 915 chipet. 925 is DDR2 only
The boards that have both PCIE and AGP slots are really not great performers (on the AGP side), but if you are tight on funds it might tide you over for a while. check out some of the reviews on the net.

that DDR 2700 will hold you over for a while, but the 3.4 you're wanting to get, may become bottlenecked due to not having ample memory bandwith. You can still use it, but the 3.4 may be running at something weird like 2.8Ghz (i'm guessing here) or something. well, what i'm trying to say is, get DDR400 at first chance you get.

promise is SUPPOSE to be a good card.
honestly though if you're just looking for IDE connectivity, just get a card and dont use RAID. thats all.

there are some boards out there that give you IDE and SATA. keep looking and you'll find one in the 915 boards......look into MSI, i know they have it. I also know that Gigabyte has this one board what has the new 775 chip support, but has the 865 chipset. I think it's exactly what you're looking for. supports DDR1, AGP, and it has SATA and IDE buses. I forget the model of that board, but i know it's made by Gigabyte. i'll hit up when i remember what model it was.
Edit:
I found the board. Newegg has it for $98.00

I wonder if there is any disadvantages to the 865 chip set vs the 915.... Yah i could go alot cheaper since all i would have to update the entire computer with just the MB and i already have the processor just have a 925 chipset board that i am going to ebay.
