K8t800 AGP Via Driver issue

Hello. Im running windows xp SP2 on my system. if i install the AGP drivers, the system will start up and run for maybee 2-3 min sometimes 5-10 minutes. My system says that the AGP is running at 8x, which is correct, but dies at / near the times mentioned.

If i remove the drivers as described (and recomended) in the Viaareana forums it will load up great. however, upong looking int he control panel my current AGP settings are ... 0x .... ARGH! so if i re-install the AGP driver for the chipset, it dies again. i have tried both the newest 1.453 and the older 1.451. im for a loss here.

when i look into my bios settings, i cannot change my AGP mode. its set to "auto" and i cannot move it. upon attempting to adjust the agp mode in my control panel (smart guard area) it says i need to re-test and boot up. at that point, it doesnt work.

How / What can i do to fix this? has anyone seen this before?

In case you do not know what i have for a system, this link will show you what i bought from newegg.

Thanks in advance!!

well i was going to say bios.. but you had already covered it...

possibly a problem with the video card itself... have you attempted to install another... different card and see if the problem presists.... if it doesn't.. the video card has a fault..

however, the KT880 is still "somewhat" new .... and the drivers may be maturing still.....

I've no other info.... i'm not sure what to do....

today, i was looking at the box (yeah i keep them).
the card is about 2 - 3 months old. had it working fine for a while.

the box says agp 4x voltage = 1.5v
8x agp = .8v

now. interestinly enough, my boards min voltage is 1.5
im wondering if this would cause the problem.

this has been discussed in other threads.... the voltage signal strength and actual voltage to the card are to different things..... apparently there is a mix up.. and i'm in the same boat... i am still a little lost on how it all works... but as long as the card is working on boot... your fine in that matter
