Processor Delima????

Awhile back I posted a message here about a new A64 computer I was planning to build for myself and I received some great advice when I asked for comments and suggestions here. Well, slowly but surely things are starting to come together. The motherboard I've been waiting for made by Epox finally made it's way to the Internet resellers and I purchased one two days ago. I should get it sometime late next week. But now, I'm having a hard time trying to decide which processor I should get. I've narrowed my choices down to three. They are;

A64 3500+ Winchester (90nm) currently $391.00 at monarch computers

A64 FX-53 (2.4 ghz) Clawhammer currently $786.00 at monarch computers

A64 FX-55 (2.6 ghz) Clawhammer comes out or announced Oct 11th, not sure which.

I'm just having a great deal of trouble trying to choose one. Which one would you guys suggest.

I would say the 3500 the rest seem like a waste of money that can go else where in your system.

BTW, Newegg has it for 347.00

Thanks for the advice, Necrosis. I was beginning to lean towards the 3500+ anyway. Also thanks for the tip on the newegg price. Now, I can afford to get a X800 XT Pe I've wanted for awhile. It always pays to ask opinions from the guys who know.

I just checked out the 3500+ processor at newegg, and unfortunately that is the Newcastle processor, not the Winchester (90nm chip). But thanks for your help, it's appreciated.

Definitely go for the 3500+, either core. Put the extra money somewhere else.
