K8T800 Pro or nForce3?
I've been looking at some MSI boards for a while, but can't deside which chipset to choose??
I have nForce2 ATM and can't say that I'm happy with it, because of the many bad drivers that nVidia has released.
I'm looking for a Socket 939....or maybe a 754 hehe...can't deside on that either. HELP!

If go for an nForce3 board make sure it's an nForce3 250 and not a 150.

This just my own opinion, but I've never liked the Via motherboards. Epox has just come out with a new socket 939 board called the EP-9nda3+. It comes with the Nforce3 Ultra chipset, I just ordered one for myself yesterday. You can find it, by following the link below.

Hope this helps.

I'm looking on some pictures of the Epox 9NDA3+ board. The SATA 3 and 4 connectors is not seated to well if having a fairly large GFX card.
I have the HIS X800Pro with the IceQII cooling solution, and the SATA connectors + SATA cables, will be a problem.

Me likes the NF3 a lot but the VIA boards aren’t bad either these days. The NF3 is definitely more feature packed and will work out better if you are into heavy OCing. Both companies makes very stable and hard working chipsets, can’t go wrong with either really. For the 939/754 debate that all depends on your budget; the 939 is the way to go if you do a lot of video work and want some future upgradeability security. Both platforms are more than fast enough for today's stuff and there are rumors of new low class 939 cpus coming out very soon (3200+).
Btw, the sata ports will not be a problems even on your HIS card. I have used them with a silencer 4 and they pose no problems

From my testing the Via IMO is the more stable of the 2, there are still A LOT of compatibility problems with the N-Force chipset, Memory being the biggest downfall, kinda hit or miss with it, if you want to oc then I would have to agree the N-Force is the better of the 2, but for stability and compatibility then I would have to say go with the Via.

yes, VIA has come along way...they used to be notoriously unstable and such, now they're just as good if not better in some respects.

forget the 754 socket....stick with 939 (you'll have a better platform for upgrading should you hold onto the mb), also for right now there are no nvidia chipset mb's that i'm aware of which out perform via based k8t800 pro systems. id go with either the asus a8v or abit av8 boards with a 3500+ or greater proc (i love spending other peoples money )

Well I really like the Abit board, but what I don't like is that it got only two SATA connectors.

I'd go with the k8t800 pro chip set and the ASUS A8V. I've used my last MSI (Ram Finniky) board of any kind.

Abit's KT890 AX8 has 4 sata connectors..... PCI EXpress ports (16x and i think 3 1x ports along with 2 Normal PCI ports)
i'm still trying to get ahold of the damn thing and i'm just plain out having a hard time getting anything period..
i've talk to probably 6 different places.... 4 online places.... and i'm having NOTHING but "erm, we don't/can't get it" or "Say what?"

Well i'm willing to spit up the cash when i can.....
basically, the kt890 from what i've seen and gotten from various sites... is the kt800 PRO only upped to include PCI-EX and a few other fixes (kinda like a revised KT800A ..... but we will see.. )
