Asus P4P800-e deluxe and PDP RAM?

Hello everyone, this shalll be my first post. I'm just getting into the whole hardware thing, so I'm a bit clueless on a lot of things. I just built my first box, sticking, I hope wisely, to the tried and true P4 socket 478. I got the asus board, and some memory from PDP. I read several good reviews on the RAM, and it's incredibly cheap (try $160 for a gig), so I figured I'd try. It seems to be a mistake so far, but I may be wrong.

The dual channels DIMMS, which I got, are supposed to be able to run at 2-3-2-5 latencies at 800MHz and 2.5V. The best I can do is 2-3-3-6 at 2.65V. Any lower, and it won't POST. According to PDP, the memory has been tested on this exact board, at these specs. I talked to tech support, and they said just send the modules back. However, I have a friend who bought the exact same DIMMs, and is having the same trouble. Is there anything I should be doing to make these things work like they should? Or did I really get what I paid for?

Thanks.
