exclamation NEW Abit NF7 bios

I don't know if this was in the news or not- or if it was mentioned anywhere else, but I didn't see it.

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...ries=1&model=8

Please use AWDFLASH 8.23D or later to update NF7 series BIOS. With incorrect AWDFLASH version, the GUID will be erased, and leads to IEEE1394 peer to peer function failed. AWDFLASH 8.23K is included in this BIOS package.
Update SATA BIOS to v4.2.47 (FOR NF7-S ONLY).
Add an option to enhanced USB 2.0 device compatibility. User may set the option to "enabled" in "Integrated Peripherals / OnChip PCI Device / USB 2.0 Device Compatible".
Add auto shutdown function while CCMOS jumper is placed at PIN 2-3. The correct setting is placed at PIN 1-2; the CPU core voltage will be abnormally high if placed at PIN 2-3, system will shut down automatically to protect CPU from damage.
Fixed the issue that DOS 6.22 can't boot up on SATA HDD without PS/2 mouse.
Add "SATA ROM ROM: Enabled / Disabled" option to improve SCSI card compatibility.
Change the default year to 2004.
BIOS compile date: 03/18/2004.

Has anyone successfully applied this bios? I did and my MOBO wouldn't boot, I had to call exCaliberPC to order a "survival kit"-- it cost me 3 days and 30 dollars.... Now I'm afraid to try to update again..

Also has anyone ever done a "hotswap", where you take the bios chip out of your MOBO while it is on and put the old one it to flash it? They say you can do it, but just wondering if anyone has ever done it and had any problems?

EDIT--
Oh those damn morons at ABIT-

When I downloaded this bios, it said absolutely nothing about it being for v1.0 or 1.2 only-- It said for ALL NF7's- Then they added v23 and added the "only for v1.0 etc.." later--

WTF- they need to specify which version the bios is for when they first put it on the website, not a day later.. It cost me freaking 30 bucks... I'm never buying a shitty single BIOS Abit board again..

Yeah- I did grab it too soon off the website-- but really there shouldn't be a "too soon" because they should never have a page that says "for all NF7's", and have a bios version that will render a board useless..

But it's fixed now, just had to waste 30 bucks and 3 days to do it...

Now I'm going to hotflash my old one- I'm gonna take the chip out while the PC is on and stick the other one in there- then flash it w/ the latest bios. Then I will have an extra one just in case.. Or maybe I will fry this board, who knows.. I'm going to use the dental floss trick since the BIOS chip removal tool I got is metal..

Oh, and if I went by that "if it ain't broke don't fix it" deal, I would be running an AMD K6-II, 450mghz with an SGI 8mb video card and a creative soundblaster16 with pc100 ram on an Asus P5-A ... Because that's what "this" rig started out as... lol

Actually I live by, "if it ain't broke, tweak it"... then if if breaks, fix it (or sit in a corner quietly crying)- or maybe (throw something that makes a loud noise when it breaks), or something like that.
