rolleyes Monitor/Card related issue..

Hello dear DH-members.

I have a little bit of a problem.

I dont know how to explain it, because i cant even explain it in my own language (Swedish)

My monitor seems to filicker (or what you call it) from time to time.
You can compare it with an old tv. When you hear a strange sound from the tv.
Kind of like when it takes its final breath and you see a long black line.
The sound it makes just before it dies. Thats the sound im aiming at.

I think its card related because the same thing happends with both of my monitors. (I have 2)
And it is two totally different manufacturers.

The monitor quickly switches between two modes in the same resolution, and at the same refreshrate.
Im currently running my monitor at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz , the other one maxes 1600x1200 @ 75Hz

It reminds of switching between 2 color temperatures. And at the same time that weird noise comes from the screen.

I guess im the only one that faces this problem but if you have some tips it would be helpful.

/Daniel

ps.

DH is a wonderful site.
I get most of my answers here.

Oh sorry. I think you got this wrong. Im only using one monitor. not two.
I have tested the card separately with each monitor. And the color-"temperature" problem/weird sound
always turns up.

You've tried two different monitors and get the same symptom - I agree that you may have problem with the video card. Swap the video card out and test again with both monitors.

Also check the pins on your monitor cables (the 15 pin connector) - make sure they are straight and none touch the other and that none of the individual pins looks like little brushes - OK? (the individual pins on some monitor cables are actually not a solid pin - but a three prong pin pressed very close together so that it looks like one solid pin).

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

so the screen flickers?

does it show like rainbow of colors?

if so that means it is most likely auto-degaussing.

If thats the case then move away anything that could be causing interference, like speakers, cell phones, anything magnetic, etc..
