Ahh the notorious Nforce 2 mobo problems heres some tips, make sur eyou have quality ram because they are finicky about ram, dual channel ...eh ya aint gonna see a big enough difference to write home about, on the nforce boards I have sold and built, memory slots run like this to achieve "dual channel" 1/3 or 2/3. As far as the prblems with benchmarking try this if you have the time....do a fresh install DONOT install the nforce drivers only install whats needed (video, sound, any added cards ) and try the benchmarks from there

I think 90% of the nforce 2 problems are caused by the dodgy Nvidia IDE drivers. I always run MS IDE drivers and everything is ROCK solid, even highly overclocked.

I got all my stuff and its all gone gr8!
The only problems I've had is with the 4X - 8X AGP lever on the ATI settings, When I put it to 8X, on bootup the colors on the XP intro page are all mashed and then the monitor shuts off. I have to load a previous config and run 4X. Anyone have any solutions?
My system temps are now: Motherboard 36C CPU 45C thats running with the retail HSF & thermal pad.

I set it to 8X in the ATI panel not the BIOS. Is that why there's a problem?

I have always felt personally ATI have no need to put AGP speeds in the control panel. all these settings can be done via the bios, the place it should be done in the first place. too many combinations of hardware to get it working right all the time.

I've built so many nforce2 systems it isn't funny. No problems with them. I cant say the same about mine however. I however will not start on it again. But if you absolutely need a working cd-rw, consider the Via solution instead.

I agree with you, I've come across many similar things as this. I've not turned it up yet, got a match in a moment will do it after.
I;ve been trying to download Service PAck1 and its being real awkward.
