I just checked for my ASUS P5Q WS that I have version 1307 and there are 2-3 newer versions of it from ASUS. Any idea if I have to install all of them or just the latest one?

if im correct from my last asus board i used i just Flashed the latest bios update with out any problem.Each version already contains the fixes from the previous release.

EDIT: My board was at least 3 bios versions lower from new,than what asus were hosting.

I think that each BIOS update contains the complete BIOS "image" so no need to flash more than once. Also, I have an ASUS board too and recently I did just that and all went well.

EDIT: MIG was quicker.

Thank you guys. Unfortunately I can't since it needs a floppy disk drive and I haven't even seen a floppy disk in years, much more own one and a drive.

Has youre board got an Bios update within your bios.. if so you should be able to flash it from a Data stick.

That never worked for me... My updates would only be read from a usb drive..EZ Flash would never find the C Drive,It would only find the external devices...

May be just be my setup. Who knows.

Yes, I'm sure. But it was not possible in the first BIOS version my board came with. The flash-from-hdd feature was added later.
You can launch the EZ Flash from BIOS and see if your HDDs are listed there.

The Asus update utility for windows doesn't work for this board, according to asus.

I tried to access the ezflash thingy but the post is too fast and I can't see the shortcut. Any idea what it is?

Hit Alt+F2 during POST, or enter BIOS setup and run it from the Tools menu.

edit: About the Update utility not working on P5Q WS, I checked the manual for the board and it is listed there as a BIOS update option, as well as it is included on the P5Q WS downloads page...

Probably only from a FAT(32) partition - not NTFS! That's how it is here with QFlash

I tried it, it loaded a screen showing my current bios version and on the right side it said UNKNOWN. I couldn't select a path, there was no way to type or graphical interface/aka mouse action. I reset the system.
Next time I will copy the file to one of the external (NTFS) drives and see if it does something differently.

Im not sure if this is any help... But im asking out of curiosity..

Are you trying to find via the EZ interface the bios update file directly from the HDD without placing it into a new folder..

Mine would only be found from a USB drive when i placed the Bios update within a New Folder.

Yes, that's what the others said and I thought, why not try it.
I don't have a USB flash drive to use (I have one such drive but I don't plug it in for any reason other than something else).

Next time I reboot I will try to remember to check it with my external hard drive.

I have flashed BIOS from a file placed directly in the root of my D: partition (550GB NTFS). Same thing with USB drive. I think it should work since P5Q WS and P5Q Deluxe are not that different

It sounds like you have an older EZ Flash version without the ability to read from HDDs and with no flash drive plugged in you coudn't select any path. Here is a screenshot of how it looks on my board:

It looked like that to me, but without any of the info there. If that means I need to update the bios to make it possible to update the bios to make it possible update the bios, I am going to have to wait a long while.

OK, just find chapter 3.1 Managing and updating your BIOS, then 3.1.1 Asus Update utility. The pages are marked differently, but it is a page 69 of the document.
