Re: USB Keyboard?
I think impossible, USB ports aren't fed 5V while system is off so KB and mouse would be turned off as well....... I haven't seen a board that has an option for this either. (I also haven't seen a lot of new boards, so maybe they're out there now)

Re: USB Keyboard?
Hmm, thanks for the feedback! - pitty Microsoft does not include a ps2 adapter with their retail keyboards. That really annoys me.
there is 5V in that port and I think it could be done easily by changing mobo design a little bit. I faintly recall I had a mobo a few years back where it worked Last edited by CitySlicker; Sep 20, 2009 at 07:08 PM. |

Why is it Beeping!?!?!

Re: USB Keyboard?
Yeah the PS2 port would do that I think but I'm not sure. The only thing that usb devices will do is wake a computer if its hibernating or something similar but it can't be completely shutdown unfortunately.

Re: USB Keyboard?
some motherboards keep the USB power fed even when off... i've actually got an older one with as Asus board in it i think that via USB keyboard can turn it on....
So it's not impossible... it's very much mobo specific i think not many people use keyboard power up.....

Re: USB Keyboard?
have had such a board myself a couple of years back. Technology is advancing backwards fast. Now on a AM3 board things no longer work that were still working, on a 939 socket board, like HDD temperature under AHCI or keyboard power on.

Re: USB Keyboard?
i think they are taking the "green" stuff to the max.
shutting off standby power and so forth.. Usually a setting can be adjusted in the bios.. but i haven't really bothered looking or trying.... i use a power button the computer... not sure why hitting a keyboard is gonna make it any easier... actually it's more annoying considering a keyboard button being pushed accidently

i've seen at least 5 times as many keyboard failures then i have power buttons.. the only reason i've seen a power button fail is due to punching it
