Re: Missing sound drivers help
What you are looking for is the Realtek AC'97 drivers (an older chip). You can the latest drivers off of their website HERE. (Edit: sorry about the link. Realtek protects them, so it wasn't coming up properly. I've edited the link to a page before the download. Just select "software", and a couple steps later you'll get to the driver).
If that doesn't work for you be sure to post back, but make note that it would be helpful if you could list what laptop you have (if it's an HP make sure to list the model number on the underside of the laptop as the one on the top signifies the series, not the exact model). That will help narrowing down your specs, and what drivers to point you to. Last edited by Tipstaff; Jun 27, 2009 at 08:15 PM. |

Re: Missing sound drivers help
There are many different e-system models. You need to be more precise.

Re: Missing sound drivers help
Okay you have EI Systems 814 with a Foxconn RC4107MA motherboard. EI systems only sell their products through Dixons, Comet and Currys in the UK. They do not provide any support, downloads, drivers or manuals.
This, I believe, is the download page for your motherboard. Near the bottom of the page are the drivers for onboard AC97 audio (version R3.96 033/29/2006). Make sure you properly uninstall any drivers you have already tried to install before commencing installation. Click here to visit the Foxconn download page for what I believe your motherboard Good luck!

Re: Missing sound drivers help
Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
Then uninstall Realtex AC97 audio driver (if listed) If it is not listed there then Start > Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance > System Then on the Hardware tab click on Device Manager Locate audio driver and uninstall 1. Download the new driver first and unzip it onto your desktop so it is ready. 2. Uninstall existing audio driver 3. Reboot when you have uninstalled. Make sure you are not connected to the internet to stop an automatic download. Cancel automated installation if XP gives a located new hardware dialog 4. Install new driver 5. Reboot 6. Hopefully it works 7. Dont forget to set your properties and ensure sound is enabled via the control panel sound options. Edit: Just so you know, I edited post #6 at the same time as you were replying, so make sure you read it fully again.
