MSI K9MM-V Overclock
There is no option in the bios to overclock my new x2 5000 black edition. Are there any utilities or other alternatives I can overclock my cpu.

That board doesn't have a PCI/AGP lock. You would be increasing speed on all your peripherals such as hdd and would probably be a bad idea. HDD would not like it I don't think and could cause major problems. Sorry

I bought that motherboard once. Worst buy I ever made, returned it the day after.
Sadly enough there is a reason why some things are cheap. Don't know what motherboard to recommend nowadays with an AGP slot and AM2 Socket. If you want cheap then go with Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA but it's not a very good board for overclocking, none of the cheap ones are. It did work well with my X2 5200+ and X850XT AGP so it's not a bad board in that respect. If you can find one at all. |

I didn't except much from 40$ board. I had no problem to set everything up and it even detect my DDR 6400. I can see huge difference in games from my old P4 3.00. I can play crysis now.
Other than the overclocking issue I'm pretty happy. The ASrock board isn't available in the U.S. By the way, the whole upgrade cost me around 130$. Thank you all. |

[SOLVED] Just let you know that I was able to overclock my AMD X2 5000 BLACK EDITION using this small utility.
RMClock Utility. Products. CPU Rightmark I almost gave up since I didn't have the option to change the FID in the bios. With this program I raised my FID to X15 from X13 on stock voltage. Super Pi improved from 35sec to 31.22 sec. Not bad. |
