Asus M2NPV-VM Question

Sometime back I built a system for #1 son using this MB.

It has:
3800+ Brisbane
2GB Corsair RAM
X1950Pro
Creative Sound card

Now, when it boots, it shows 2048MB of ram but only 2047 available

I've looked thru the BIOS, and the onboard sound and video are both disabled, but 'something' is wanting/using that 1MB of memory.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it is, and how we can free that up?

Bumpity....

I haven't managed to stump the fine folks here have I?

Surely SOMEONE has some input.

OH I forgot to add. It originally had 1GB (2x512), and the same thing was occuring then too...1MB 'missing'.

The RAM he's using now, 2x1GB, came out of this system when I upgraded to 8GB. My system used all of it, and didn't show a 'missing' 1MB.

Being only 1MB, it probably isn't making any difference in performance. It's just that WHY it's happening is a mystery to me, and I'd like to find out why it's happening, just so I know for future reference.

It's likely being Shadowed. I normally always see that though, installl 4096, and it'll boot showing 4095

i wouldn't be to concerned about that 1mb of ram though.

Think it might be the onboard video?

It would only be showing the current screenshot... I was thinking this might be all it needs at that moment.

It won't make a difference even if it is missing.

It might be the motherboard allocates a hole in the 15-16M segment to account for older ISA adapters or somesuch, which is fairly common.
