Help with old Soyo Dragon 875p Mobo

Rebuilding a old system to give to a friend. using the Soyo Dragon 2 v1.0 and have the bios flashed, windows xp fully updated, but can't seem to get the pci's or onboard sound to work at all. The network adapter port is recognized, as well as the AGP video card. If I put a sound card in the pci slot it doesn't recognize it or even the on board sound.

What am I doing wrong, am I missing something in the bios? Not sure here, really lost.

go into BIOS and see if any of the settings need to be changed (enabled) to use the onboard devices, also try resetting the BIOS to its default settings.
if you are not sure what BIOS's setting to use, it may helps, if you post a link to your motherboard's user manual.

Maybe go to bios settings, then go to "onboard device", from here go to "6 Channel H/W audio" and set the option to "enabled".

Also connect the end of the "SPDIF Audio connector card" cable to the "SPK5" connector on the motherboard. For 5.1 sound setup you have to use the correct jumper setting.

After that, install the onboard soundcard drivers for the onboard Cmedia CMI 8738 soundcard. A link for the Windows XP driver: C-Media CMI8738 WDM Driver (Windows XP)

Thanks for the replies. I tried everything, and from the get go had the audio enabled. I tried default and than tried various other bios settings but nada. Puzzled to say the least, couldn't find a online manual but read the one on the driver disk. Thanks again for the replies, I guess it's time to hunt on ebay for a old 478 mobo to finish this.
