if the firewall is hardware and is unsecured, you can just type 192.168.1.1 and try and deactivate it there....

just a wild guess..... but i highly doubt that that a school would leave such a thing unsecured... unless they think youre just a pack of idiots or something lol

There's actually a whole lot of ways to get by things like that.

1) Google is your friend. Do a search for Driverheaven.net, and take a look at the result on Google. Along with the link to the site are 2 other links: Cached, and Similar Page. If you click on the cached link, Google will cache the site in question to their server. What this means is that you will not be actually on the site, but on Googles site. In the case of DriverHeaven's forums, try THIS link.

From what I remember there is one catch: you can't use this method for sites that require login. In the case of DriverHeaven you can see the forum, but you won't be able to login.

Also, take a look at THIS link. This is Googles translator site. Just as with the cached page link above, Google caches a site in order to translate it. On that page you will see a section that says, "Translate website." So, punch in www.driverheaven.net (or http://www.driverheaven.net/forum.php), pick any language to translate from into English (German works perfectly), and volia! Again, because Google is caching the site, you are seeing the site on Googles servers.

Note: this may work for sites that require login... but not always. Also, this method will work for any site that does translation, such as Altavistas Babel Fish.

2) If a company has done the lazy way of blocking sites they most likely are blocking domain names only, such as whatever.net. This leaves a big whole open for you to go through: direct connection to the server via the IP of the server. All you do is translate a domain name into a server address using a tool such as FindIP Address, or hcidatas "Convert Host Domain to IP". In the case of DriverHeaven the server address is 209.62.83.38, or http://209.62.83.38/forum.php . Nice, hmm?

Just as before, though, this will not work with sites that require login, or at least it won't most of the time.

There is one other free way, and that is to use a proxy, but some companies have wizened up on this. Other than that, there are no other worth while free ways to mention. Pay wise you can use something like AnonymusSurf, or Anonymizer.

you can also use a proxy. but often times, proxies will not let you log in.

that one is just one of many that are found on google by typing in "proxy server"

There is one thing that will work: mobile versions of sites (or translated sites into mobile versions). It's the damnedest thing, but it works, however it looks like $4!7.

If the firewall is a SonicWall.... you might have a hardtime (besides the mobile way). I install them for work occasionally. They are very good at what they do, and what they do it keep you on sites you shouldn't be viewing at work/school
