I Had the same problem. I was using the ATI 9700 pro xp 2200 cosair 3200 512. how i fixed the problem was taking all the PCI cards out and using on board goodies. It didn't like the sound blaster live platnium card or the nic card. After having so many problems i got rid of the board for the MSI K7N2G-Ilsr, i have been abile 2 jump to 400 fsb and pretty good over clocking of the 9700 pro, i could not over clock the 9700 pro with the Soyo it would not post. Its a big problem with the Soyo board sad to say. I tried all the bios upgrades called Soyo and Ati after 98$ phone bill to ATI they told me that 9700 pro and the SOYO dont work together, no sh#$#@#%T i didn't have to spend 98$ bucks on my phone bill to know that. So my best bet 2 u is change MOBS. Sorry i couldn't help but trust me that board has big problems!!!!!!!

jjmd, ease up a little please. There's no need to attack other members.
Reading what Saint_K wrote, he wasn't "slamming" anyone.
It may be poorly worded, but I think what he meant was, "Correct me if what I'm saying is wrong . . . "
Please try to exercise more restraint in the future.

Have you tried
I don't have a Soyo but I do have a GA-7AX rev 1.1 with the Via 400 chipset. The earlier revisions of ATI 9700 don't work very well if at all with the Via 400 chipsets. Not even the latest motherboard bios will fix it. Note I could at least boot-up to windows, but all 3D apps crashed to desktop or rebooted my system and I'd then get the system has recovered from a serious error message. Flashing the 9700 pro with the 8004 bios corrected all my problems, can run 3D mark 2002se, 3D Mark 03, UT2K3, EverQuest and the rest of my games no problems. You can download the bios and flash utility from OmegaDrive's site.
