if running the super_pi in Vista x64 can be (a result in) slower than running it in Vista 32-bit... and if under 4 GHz system can be slower than running it in 2 GHz of RAM system...
and that when your system configuration, is 4 GHz of RAM... 450x8 3.6GHz... 1:1 DDR2-900 CAS4-4-4-x... Vista x64...

then no, otherwise i would say yes, just a little bit slower than i was expected.

because mine was about the same settings, but Vista 32-bit and 2 GHz of RAM... 14.336s (your was X38 - 14.359s) and i think it can be lower a little bit yet.

i hope my english is not confusing you?

i read a few last pages and it seems like BIOS's issues happening in both the Maximus and the X38-DQ6 threads over there.
i think BIOS is still buggy, i mean as usual for new boards, give it some times things may get better in a couple weeks.

At 2.18v maximus ate 1GB of my Dominator 6400C3DF's man I do not have good motherboard luck with these sticks, I have had them completely replaced at least 5 times now.

Time to get an RMA

seems to be low volts for your memory module. it's probably not with your DDR2 voltage settings that it keeps dying on you that often. the memeory is easy to be killed with those hardcore and softcore overclockers out there.
i guess i have all the luck with most of the memeory modules i have been using, i often run DDR2 at from 1.8V all the way to 2.55V all days long when i decide to play and test my new hardwares. gave a pair of Geil's DDR2-800 CAS3 to my son friend and he runs that modules at 2.5V for like a year now, and i did play with it quite a lot before, lol, it does not dead, yet, lol.

Problem found

Maximus overvolts DRAM like mad. 2.18-2.2v in bios is well over 2.3v nearing 2.4v according to hardware monitor onboard, no DMM here or I would check actual readings, but others have confirmed that Maximus feeds a ton of voltage despite BIOS settings.

So memtest/blend overnight resulted in my ram being 100% stable at 2.06v in BIOS which read actually as 2.15v.

So if you get a Maximus 2.00v is still around 2.10v oddly enough. Hopefully they fix that in a BIOS release.

EDIT: Also didnt help the ram running high volts when it was hot in my room, and also doing World Community Grid Ah well RMA is in transit.

let's say hardware kills each others, and it can actually happen to anyone (and not just this board too), people might already want to start measuring voltages on the board.
but anyway, when you come to think of it, your 6400C3DF is designed to handle 2.4V, i'd also check for more info to see if this board has killed other people's RAM's,
and then, for that i return the board for replacement if within 30 days, but i don't have to waste much effort and time to do that.

as about speaking of i've never killed a RAM myself... it's proved to be it was just too early to say that, lol.

a few hours ago i just killed one of a G.Skill DDR2-800 HZ... after i've done with these 3 below's... the last boot of the 1:1 and to test my settings of CAS4-4-4-4...

the test was done fine, then 30 mins later i got a system lockup, need a reset, then system couldn't boot... performed a C_CMOS... still booting in a loop... i knew that was something went wrong with the memory modules... took both modules out... no burn no smell anything like it was dead.

put one of them back in the DIMM slot... still booting in a loop, replace with another one.... system boots normal.

i suspected it might has more to do with SPD programed at one the modules?

480x8 1:1.25 DDR-1200 CAS5-5-5-15...

480x8 1:1.25 DDR-1200 CAS5-5-4-12...

480x8 1:1 DDR-960 CAS4-4-4-4...

speaking of one more dead D9's module. lol.

Dumb question time....with 2 full speed X16 slots, could this run Nvidia SLi? Or are there underlying circuit differences?

the full speed slots are not the problem - all pcie slots are cross compatible. the problem is, there is no intel chipset support for sli.
