Burning Problems with nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset

Ever since I've upgraded to Nero 7 I've had a nightmare burning CD's/DVD's. Every time I go to burn a disc I'm good for one then have to reinstall chipset drivers, restart computer, burn another disc, reinstall, restart, burn, etc...

I started out using the latest drivers for my motherboard( 7NJL1 APOGEE) on Chaintech's website. I then upgraded to the latest ones on Nvidia's website but had the same problem. I then just used the standard XP drivers, same problem.

Any suggestions?

I used the driver cleaner tool and I'm still having the same problem.

System Specs

Welcome to the forums, outbackpaul!

Questions for ya: Previous to this, you were using Nero 6 just fine with that board? Also, have you double checked that the IDE channel the burner is connected to (Primary or Secondar) has DMA turned on in Device Manger, and that it's not set to PIO mode? Lastly, is it uninstalling the chipset drivers, or is that the only way to get things working again is to reinstall them?

On a side note, of late I have noticed that newer optical drives require that you use an 80 wire IDE cable. So far I've noticed that the lastest Pioneer (111D), BenQ, and LG (H10 and up) drives all require that cable. Infact, LG even supplies an non-clipped 80 wire IDE cable (older 80 wire cable were just that: 80 wires, while newer cable have one wire clipped out at one end) with their OEM H22N drives. Also, I've noticed that these drives do no like to be on the same cable as older drives, especially the BenQ ones. So, if you have more than one IDE device hooked up to that cable you might want to seperate the drive just as a test.
