Asus P5W DH and WinXP x64
Hey guys, I'm trying to get Windows XP x64 installed and have run into a small problem. For some reason the following device will not install;
Intel(R) 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Controller - 27B8
I have tried the latest drivers on the intel site and on the cd but this will not install under Windows x64 and its making my PC run pretty bad. Games or even extracting a small file brings my pc to its knees.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

for other boards on both the Intel ICH8/ICH8R and ICH7/ICH7R chipset the LPC Interface Controller is listed under the System devices, the Intel includes in its chipset software installation utility to install a Windows driver for it.
as for Asus board that provides Ai Booster utility, as i understand the utility uses this device and Asus provides drivers for it. try re-download the Ai Booster utility (AIBooster.zip) at Asus download page, then try manually running the .exe you see within the Acpi64 folder inside the AIBooster.zip.
note-- all of third party drivers should be installed at after the Intel chipset software installation utility has already been installed on the Windows system.

Just to add to this, you might want to download a more recent version of the driver from Asus' website than the one on the CD that came with that board (on their site it is version 7.2.2), or download the most recent driver from Intel which would be 8.1.1 (which you can grab HERE).

also, if you go to Intel's site and if you use Intel ICH's RAID you can get a new RAID drivers and Windows utility that Intel has just released them this month, which is also offically support Vista and downward Windows's.
- RAID/AHCI Software - Intel Matrix Storage Manager (Windows utility) Version 6.2.0.2002
- Floppy Configuration Utility for Windows 32-bit Version 6.2.0.2002
- Floppy Configuration Utility for Windows 64-bit Version 6.2.0.2002
note-- you can update the existing installed of these drivers by doing an advanced driver update within the Device Manager, you can also install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software over the top of old version.
