HELP! my computer won't turn on :(
Hello. I just received my Gigabyte 965P DS3 motherboard in the mail today. Having an issue though. Thing is I can't get it to turn on. I hit the power switch and it does nothing. No fans, no nothing. I've tried clearing the CMOS, tried two different PSUs (OCZ 700W and Enermax 485W), grounding the power switch header with no avail. Anything else you guys think I could try out?
If not, what is the likely culprit? mobo or CPU?

if this is not your first time building... and you know about computer enough, then i believe you've all basic things checked out.
but anyway, i suggest before you send the motherboard back for a replacement try setting it up one more time... with basic computer parts (that are known to be in working condition) and out the computer case in one step.

Try putting only 1 stick of RAM in and booting it (if you're using 2), that helped an older board I had get going once

definately not my first build. Specs are under my avatar.
but they are:
Core 2 Duo E6300.
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
2X1GB Corsair Value PC-4200
OCZ GameXtream 700W
I tested the PSU and the memory in a different computer. Can't find a different CPU to try though I bought the motherboard in the internet, makes it kind of difficult to take it back. But it looks it i might have too.

pull the cpu/ram everything and just have the motherboard and psu connected and hit the power... if anything, the motherboard should power up the fans and then beep due to no cpu being present let alone everything else. That's as about failure test you can get in terms of trying everything else from running only the cpu and motherboard and psu....

ok i'll try that out.
This is my first non-Asus board in years. If this doesn't work, i am just going to buy an Asus P5B deluxe instead.

Rebuild it, thats right pull it all out, build it a secod time, clear the cmos and try to boot it.
that would be my angle of attack....
Drive by opinion: ASUS is not all they appear to be.... least not anymore...

I tried it inside and outside of the case. Outside a few times.
I tried what Judas said no, nothing. i've already requested an RMA for the board. And already ordered the P5B Deluxe.

I am hoping they'll just give me a refund. However if not I'll just sell it. Both my GF and sister are buying to be buying new rigs soon, so i shouldn't have a problem getting rid of it.

I've had a couple gigabyte boards recently, they're pretty decent imo (my current asus has been nothing but bother..), but that sounds like a dead mobo to me.

The last C2D system I build had a P5B in it and it worked quite well, why is everyone down on Asus?
