ASUS Bios Update error? Fix.

Hi, I'm having trouble updating the BIOS for my ASUS P5N32 Sli SE Deluxe, it seems that every time i try and install the ASUS update program, it tells me theres something wrong with NT?? And that I should restart this; it them proceeds to tell me that there is no ASUS mobo found on the system....Any wise words/help would be much appreciated...

Are you booting the computer using the diskette made with the AFUDOS utility using the procedures described Here with the 0401 bios file? Overclocking at all?

I see you have a Creative sound card & its a line in the registry that stop asusupdate working
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node
re-name to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\bWow6432Node Reboot then asusupdate should work.

Put back to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node after.

Hey i'm having the same problem, but i was wondering if the memory had anything to do with it. I have a pair of Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB Kit DDR2-800 XMS2-6400 Xtreme Performance. I also "had" a BFG 7900GTX DDR3 512MB Card which is RMA for BFGtech for failures, and for some f'n reason everytime i try to run Asus Update it blacks the screen, goes in to this blue screen with white numbers that goes away before you can make out what its saying and reboots. What the hell is wrong here?

Right click My Computer and select Properties, click the Advanced tab click the settings button in the Startup and Recovery column and uncheck Automatically restart. This should allow you to read the error code from the BSOD and let you search for a solution.

Hey thanks for response, i actually took the time to read the readme on the asus update, an NT Reboot basically mean unistall and re-install your LAN Drivers and then Re-install the .net framework. I did it and it solved the problem for the rebooting. What scared me was the fact that it had the gitters, like when memory gets too hot and crashes. But anyways thanks for the help. Although i got it working, updated the BIOS by internet doesn't work, i left it running and when i got back home it was still where i left it, before i cancelled it it said in red letters "timed out" then it when back to connecting and connected with the server, yet no download, does anyone know what that means?

Is there an option in that software to choose a different server? I found when I used there Auto Update program it spent more time updating itself than it did the bios! Although it has been a while I recall it gave the option to pick from a small list of servers as well. They were all pretty hard to get through to at the best of times. Try picking another if the option is there still. The best bet is to download the new bios file and Afudos to a floppy and update it that way IMHO. I would have done that even before installing the OS.

Final8ty had it right the auto up date wont work automaticaly if you have installed any one of the X-Fi sound cards.I know I have had this trouble myself. The last update Asus did for my old P4C 800 E board I had to down load the bios file then extract it and piont the auto update to it on my computer for it to work, after a little playing around removing devices I took out the X-Fi sound card and used driver cleaner to eradicate the drivers
and it started working again. When I re-installed the X-Fi and its drivers the auto update would launch then give me the error.
