Benchmarking CPU crash
OK, i don't know where to start on this
I'v built a new computer (please factor in that i'm new to this) and when ever i do a Benchmark on ether my motherboard OR my cpu the computer just goes black, monitor turns off, but all lights and fans running?
Manufacturer: RD480_
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory: 1536MB RAM
Hard Drive: 160 GB Total
Video Card: ALL-IN-WONDER X800 XL
Monitor: SyncMaster 204T/204Ts/204B,SyncMaster Magic CX201Ts(Digital)
Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio output
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface:
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)
antec 430W

i don't know if you need to know anything else

Yoy might wanna start out by checking your memory sticks .They are usually the problem.A64 are known to act funny on mis-matched sticks.Try a 1gb or 2gb, make sure that they are matched (kit) for dual channel.
P.S-You never mentioned how many sticks or manufacture.

1536MB(scratches head) i would say that they aren't matched. unless he factored in total system memory.

Even at best he'd need 4 slots full which is problematic
It could be like
2x 512
2x 256
In which case the memory controller probably would act funny as it is with 4 banks populated

(Slot 4)Empty
(slot 3)SimpleTeck Nitro - 512 DDR - Pc3500(don't know if this is important, just something that i noticed to be different
(slot 2)SimpleTeck - 512 - Pc3200

Tryed removing the nitro SimpleTeck Ram and tryed running a benchmark. same result

run the two more similar ram in the 1st and the 3rd (both yellow) slots. leave out the oddball for right now and test it like that. 2 totally different ram types(pc 3200 and 3500) are going to conflict with one another.

Nah the 3500 will get downclocked to PC3200

I tryed running the two similar ones in slot 1 and 3. and the computer would not start. The mb just keept on beeping  , so stuck the 3500 in slot 2 like i had it in my old motherboard and it still did the same thing... ??? Old motherboard was a dfi infity ultra
Thanks for any of your ideas... got anymore?

I wil look at that, but the motherboard is new. and i don't think i'm comfertable with flashing my bios... how do i cheack the version

Go into the BIOS on boot up and check.
Flashing a BIOS is nothing scary
