System Specs

Kind of building a new computer

I'm switching out most of the parts, just keeps HD's, cd player, case.

Heres what I am thinking about buying, price range is about $900 - $1000 usa.

The motherboard says
Dual Channel DDR-SDRAM, this is not DDR2 right? Sorry I know I'm still brand new at this haha.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 2.00 GHz, 2.0 GHz FSB, Socket 939 ~ $140

ASUS ATX Socket 939 Motherboard Mfg Part #: A8N32-SLI DELUX ~ $220

Zalman USA CNPS7000B-Cu LED CPU Cooler ~ $50

BFG Technologies PC System 650 Watt ATX 12V Power Supply ~ $160

BFG GeForce 7900 GT OC 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express ~ $320

So thats close to $900 right now but still need some memory, kind of would like 1 gig. I have 2 sticks of 512 that are pretty middle of the road PC3200 right now. If I can re-use that its cool. I like the idea of SLi for later down the road. I love to play WoW and I get into games like F.E.A.R and Battlefield a bit but not too much. I dont plan on getting a second card for a little while still, maybe a month or two. I'm up for the idea of just getting a one slot motherboard for graphic cards if I get some good info, but I really like the idea of having 2 3d cards going at it. Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys, and girls.

ASUS ATX Deluxe/ Wireless Edition Socket AM2 Motherboard ~ $240

M2N32-SLI DELUX

This is pretty much the same as the one above but with the am2 socket, can use DDR2 but the buss speed says 553, 667, 800... thats for the memory right? I'm guessing the front side bus is still 2 ghz

two words-go AM2.
these are changes i would suggest to ur rig.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...813131011-ASUS M2N32-SLI-$200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9103735-Athlon x2 3800+ AM2-Dual core-$150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...145040-Corsair ddr2-800 CAS4-$150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...5-Thermalright ultra 120-$45-Much better than the cooler u mentioned and cheaper.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9353-Retention bracket for the cooler-$2-Must be bought seperately.
For PSU iwont suggest the BFG-Wattage isn't everything.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...12-Silverstone 560W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...139001-Corsair 520W-$118
That would totally come upto $665 without gfx card.
And gfx card.
The evga 7900 gt Ko is better than the BFG tech option.
Higher clock/memory speed + lower cost+great warranty+step up program.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130033-$270
or if u want more speed.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130016
The evga 7900 gt superclocked KO at $290.
But the regular KO would be the best option.
So total-$665+$270=$935.
$30 above ur budget but gives u dual core, future sli support,a air cooler which is better than the corsair nautilus 500(liquid cooling) and a great gfx card.
Good luck
