What's the peak memory B/W for 845PE & 7205 (Granite Bay)??
I know the peak memory bandwidth for the Intel 845 chipset is 2.1GB/s using DDR266 (PC2100) memory. I was wondering, what's the peak memory B/W for the Intel 845PE using DDR333 (PC2700) and the peak memory B/W for the newer Granite bay M/B (7205) with their dual-channel DDR266 support?
People have been telling me that one of my bottlenecks when playing Unreal 2 with my current system setup is memory B/W. Will upgrading my M/B and therefore increasing my memory B/W increase the performance of Unreal 2? Currently, with my PNY GF4 Ti-4200 and my 1.8Ghz (256KB L2 cache) overclocked to 2.01GHz, I'm getting framerates around 25-45fps at medium settings for most details (1024x768 resolution).
Yesterday, I bought an ATI-built Radeon 9700Pro and the performance of Unreal 2 didn't improve much. So, I returned the 9700Pro for a full refund and I'm now comtemplating a change in M/B and CPU.
