??? ASUS A8R32MVP Hard drive problem

I’m having problems with my IDE hard drives disappearing. I built my new system about two weeks ago at first everything went fine. About a week ago my IDE hard drives starting disappearing in windows one by one until they had all disappeared including my CDROM and DVDROM.

I tested my hard drives and one had become corrupt so I removed the drive and replaced it with a SATA drive. I made sure everything in the bios was set correctly and tried to boot the system. I got an error message saying no IDE master detected press F1 to continue. If I don’t install an IDE HD the system will not boot without stopping and I have to press F1.

I installed another IDE HD as IDE 1 master and the system boots into to windows normally. I also can’t install any device on IDE 2 as master that is not an IDE HD. I have my DVDROM installed on IDE 2 as master but it is detected as IDE 2 slave in the bios. Today the IDE drives started disappearing in the bios. My computer is not overclocked. Is anyone else having this problem or know how I can fix this?

Thanks

My original setup

IDE 1 Maxtor 200GIG
IDE 1 Maxtor 250GIG (Slave)
IDE 2 Sony DVD

I have been told that if I RMA the board back to ASUS I will get a refurbished board back from them. Is this true?

Thanks
