a8r32-mvp MIDI/line in record problem?

I have a Casio CTK-551 keyboard connected to the MIDI port on my new system. This keyboard worked with another system. I have tried noteworthy SW and cakewalk SW to receive the MIDI, but no luck. The system device manager says all is well with the MIDI drivers and the MIDI is enabled in the bios. Also, the line in audio is heard on the output speakers, but also does not get recorded by microsoft recorder. Any tips? I am running W2000 and 0201 bios.
Thanks.
