Asus A8R32-MVP Overclock With 3800 x2 Unusual Problem

My Spec's;

Amd 3800+ 64 X2
Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe
Ati x1900xt 512mb Powercolor
1gb PC3200 Elixir 2x 512mb sticks dual channel running on divider of 166
Freezer 64
Hiper 580w Type-R Psu
Thermaltake Armor

hey all i have just got this board with my 3800 x2

i have 2x 512mb of pc3200 ram

i did an overclock to 2.4ghz temps were fine through windows, i had set a divider on the board for the memory of 166 so it hit 200mhz when i overclocked the fsb to 240mhz and was running a multiplier of 10.0x. i benched, torture tested everything etc then shut it down for the night, woke up the next morning switch on the rig and boom, hang! the system hanged and i turned it off then on again and it got past the bios screen but it said overclocking failed! press f1 to run setups blah blah , but this is totally puzzling as just the other night i had been shutting down restarting etc etc. i have just tried it again and it still hangs on 2.4 but i was perfectly stable on this last night!. anyone shed any light on this?

sorry as this is my first post and i seem like a noob im just starting and learning about this new motherboard

System Specs

what's your HTT.. sometimes if the HTT is overclocked (going from 5x 1ghz default to 5x 1.2ghz (200mhz overclock)) can sometimes result in intermitent failures.... set your HTT to 4x (800mhz) and keep the fsb at 240 or bump it to 250mhz to keep your 1ghz default HTT

Tom check in the overclocking section.
There's a sticky there about our mb. This psychlone dude has it figured out. I haven't had too much time to mess with the settings he laid out after that first night , but my pc runs great now.
I'm thinking that overvolting the nb a little and changing the settings in the ht link speed helped my htt/multiplier settings as much as loosening the stock 2-2-2-5 mem settings.
Go check out

there's a bios 4.04 out that might help you too.

hey.... WELCOME! to DriverHeaven
