I will be on long trip until december and won't have internet access. I will try to attempt to address some of your issues by then. peugeotmania, i am sorry, i don't have time to work on your problem.

However, at first glance, your problems might be with cleaning out your previous drivers. If you are looking for a driver that is most functionm use a modded 4.9 catalyst drivr, or you'll have to switch over to vista, and use the modded 6.4 drivrs instead.

Sorry, but when I read the last time your message, I didn't notice your idea about "cleaning drivers". The problem is that I don't know what you are meaning with cleaning out my previous drivers.

After reading this message, I think I will change the procedure I use to change the installed driver, that I describe in this message to the following procedure :

1. I uninstall all ATI things throw "Add/Remove Programs" and restart whenever this is requested.
2. I will clean out my system.
3. I will install the driver provided by Compaq/HP (available from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=hb-20460-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=fr〈=en&os=228&product=235647) and restart again.
4. I will install the Catalyst Driver (modded when needed).

There is one thing I do not know : how do I clean out my system ? What is this meaning ?

Could I do it manually by erasing some files on the hard disk and erasing some key in the registry like the procedure given in this message ?

Am I obligated to use DriverCleaner Pro ? What do this program ?

Hey everyone, this thread was a big help back in May and now I'm looking to it again (and yeah I know Randomness is unavailable but I was hoping someone else might have some insight). Anyway my problem is I purchased a Samsung 2253bw (22" 16:10) monitor back in May through this thread, got it to run native res. The process involved getting the hp drivers, modifying to 4.10, and Powerstrip to get to native res (it had been completely unavailable before in display properties).

Well recently this monitor has been giving me trouble and I think it's either the video card (Radeon IGP320m) or perhaps the VGA port. For some background, my 360, also hooked up to the monitor via DVI had given me an error message the day prior (error e-74) which I assume is unrelated but I'll add that in later since it seems strangely coincidental. I used the monitor that same night to watch a show and it seemed fine, the day after though, I turned on normally for full res to watch something and the monitor would keep flickering on and off (think a 10th of a sec on, few seconds off) to where i couldn't change the res without using my laptop display. By cranking it down to 1024x768, it would still flicker but, less often (maybe every few seconds). Some days later I reinstalled the hp drivers alone (after using driverclean) and it seems to work better now, almost never flickering in 1024 aside from a few repeatable instances (although it's still unusable in 1680) but the big problem now is there is a horizontal shaky image/wavy look. There seems to be many horizontal lines moving up and down, simulating waves although the entire image seems to move a little on its own. It's usable but I wouldn't want to do anything in this situation for extended periods of time. Also there had always been a little horizontal noise at native res, but it could be ignored and I assumed it was due to the relatively weak video card . I'm thinking of doing a clean Windows install, but I'm not sure if it's really just the drivers. There does seem to be some shaking in the BIOS, but I don't know if it was always there or not, and I can't run an Ubuntu live desktop environment on it, only the booting process shows on the monitor (in 1024), afterwards it becomes blank completely when it would start gnome.

Other things I've tried
-using monitor with another desktop and laptop - both fine and the laptop is even older. The desktop also did the full native res with seemingly no problem (via plug & play)
-using my laptop with the monitor in another room - still tons of shaking so it can't be from electronic interference I don't think
-using my laptop with an external CRT monitor - works fine and I think I went higher than my laptop's panel res
-playing around with the VGA cable - no affect and the pins are fine on the male side. Haven't really investigated the actual port on my laptop though

There are a few instances where the image seems completely stable, only 1 seems repeatable: the HP shutdown wallpaper is completely static right before the laptop shuts off completely (like for 1 second).

I've looked around the web for solutions but haven't quite gotten any real results yet so any help would be appreciated. Sorry about the wall of text.

I would say that the fact of having to clean the system with Driver Cleaner.Net v3.3.0.0 changed nothing, because the results of the test 5 and the test 7 are almost identical. The only thing which change it is the number of fps during the Benchmark with Track Mania Nation.

What do you think about results of the test 7 ?

What other version, that I do not already tried, should I test ?

I think that I am going to try older version (as version 4.9). What version you advise me?

I made one more test with the modded Catalyst 3.10 Driver and all is working.

To change the installed driver I do not clean my system (with Driver Cleaner.Net v3.3.0.0 or other software or procedure) : I use the procedure that I described in the message #567 from this topic.

The games mention (especially Call of Duty 1) use openGL. OpenGL libraries don get registered properly using patjeś modding tool.....see previous posts from long time ago.

Try downloading a modded version of Catalyst 5.10 to 5.13 ; there is no ¨best¨ version. everything is a case-by-case basis. different versions provide different compatibility with different games and this chip.

Video playback is OK, Direct3d Ok. But when the game runs, the pc crushes after a while -30 mn or more-

the IGP 345 is supported in Vista out of box with its built in driver. however you need to install the ATi GART driver to enable 3d accel properly. see back in this thread for more info. i do not have any time left on the internet to assist you right now.

I think you should try the drivers who works well for me : the modded Catalyst 3.10 Driver. You can find the tlink to download then in the message #582.

You can also try other versions I tried, because for each test I made, I put a link that will allow you to download the tried driver.

I do not notice in the thread any problem you reported. Can you explain what the problem was and what the solution is ? This may serve to other people who find themselves in this same situation.

no, you don't need to buy drivercleaner. if you reference back in this thread, there are instructions to remove previous drivers manually.
i don't have much time to completely explain but the short version of doing it listed below:

For Windows XP:
1) Uninstall all ATI products in the Add/Remove Applet in control panel
2) restart into SAFE-MODE COMMAND PROMPT
3) at the prompt, run the following series of commands followed by pressing the enter key ({enter})

C:\...> cd\ {enter}
c:\> erase /f c:\windows\system32\ati*.* {enter}
c:\> erase /f c:\windows\system32\drivers\ati*.* {enter}
c:\> regedit {enter}

4) The Registry Editor will open, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
expand the "Software" sub key, highlight and delete the ATI and ATI Technologies entries under "Software" in the left-hand plane

5) repeat this registry key process for the HKEY_CURRENT_USER tree
6) close registry editor
7) at the command prompt, enter the following command to restart the computer safely:

c:\> shutdown -r -t 0 {enter}

Your system is now cleaned of ATi drivers.

Install a new ATi GART driver first (see previous posts)
Install a modded ATi Catalyst driver.
I would suggest you try the Catalyst 5.13b driver from station-drivers

I wanted to say the reason that i signed in hear. As every person that uses a pc and play games, I turned out to need help! Nice experienc to need help!!! lol

So I have a laptop, Compaq Pressario 2540 with an ATI RADEON IGP 345M graphics controller. I started the game DRACULA ORIGIN and after an hour of playing i realed that i cannot save. So I said at a forum about that game, and the Technical Support of the Game Company, said i need to update my very old (2002) display drivers.

I tryed for a hole night to do so, but i ve found many difficulties and not helpful programs.

If someone has an idea or even better a solution I 'D BE GRATEFULL.

i wanted to say that MY PROBLEM WAS SOLVED.

I went to my systems HARDWARE\DEVICE MANAGER, opened the Graphics Controller. Went to the DRIVER and asked fr UPDATE. Just simple the pc downlaoded the 6.14.10.6436 driver (published in 15.05.2004). Also did it for my Sound Controller.

First of all I love this forum it has given me alot of ideas. OK that being said, I have a HP Pavilion ZE5375US Notebook with a ATI Radeon IGP 345m graphics card. I have had this laptop for a while now with no problems. about 2 years ago I upgraded the RAM to 512MB and the hard drive to 115GB. I thought it would be a good thing. First problem on the System Properties window under the General tab it only shows 448MB RAM. I have no idea why there. help ther would be good but not important. The reason I am posting here is after I installed the new hard drive I ran the system restore cds that came with the laptop. All went well at first. After all was installed I did all the win xp updates Including directx. At first I thought all was good, untill I found that some of the games I could play before would not play after (Unreal, Quake3, ect.) I delt with it untill about 3 weeks ago when I got a bad virus and decided to reformat to fix it. I tried to do the restore cd thing again thinking it would work better this time. After all updates I tried to install Diablo 2, and it said that the graphics driver was not compatable. This after playing it for years before with no problems. I found this forum and tried several things installed the latest Catalyst drivers, then several Omega drivers, then I installed Driver Cleaner.NET and tried it then I tried reinstalling all othere 1 at a time clearing all between with Driver Cleaner.NET. and still everytime I try to install any drivers it says that the driver is not compatable with the hardware. Do I need to go back to the old hard drive and RAM or is there something else I can do?

PLEASE HELP I just want to be able to play a game. Thanks for any help..

Hello All:

You can download the "newest" ATi GART Driver for the Radeon IGP 320M, Radeon IGP 340M and Radeon IGP 345M from an HP FTP server for your HP notebooks using this chipset. It is version 5.1.2196.1009 (11 Jun 2004).

You can either search their FTP website for SP28073.exe or you can download the ATi GART directly from here.

The stable HP version of the ATi Catalyst driver based on Catalyst 4.4 / 4.5 can be downloaded from here. I personally recommend this one if your looking to getting your notebook back on its feet, or before playing with modded drivers.

That said....


2`Tall:

1) Clean out the current drivers you have installed as per instructions in my recent post, After you run Driver Cleaner.

2) Download and install the ATI GART Driver, as per link above. Restart your computer. (The Installer is a silent one, so wait 5 minutes before restarting)

3) Download and install the ATi Driver as per link above. Use the "Express" option, and restart your computer when prompted.

If your still having problems, i will need to know what DXDIAG says under the display tab, when you run the program (DXDIAG.EXE).

My initial gues would have been a damaged VGA cable, or damaged VGA port. However your other listed attempts at trying to figure out the problem does suggest it is the laptop. Although i find it equally strange the laptop works fine with a CRT.

There are a few things you could try. My monitor did a few wierd things too, and i eventually pinned it down to the ATi Hot-key Poller Server. Try diabling it, and restarting.

You can find it by START-->Run--> "services.msc"

If that doesn't work, try cleaning out all your ATI drivers, and install the ATi GART and stable ATi drivers from HP listed in my above post. Then make a new monitor inf file with Powerstrip.

If neither of these works, it sounds like there is hardware damage somewhere, but it sounds like it might be difficult to isolate. Ultimately, it boils down to something interfering with the signal going to the monitor. Make sure you also don't have the IGP set above 60Hz for your external flat panel.
