Hello:
I won't be able to address your issues until i get more free time. In the mean time, could you download OpenGL Extension Viewer, and find out what this program says is your system's Rednerer is, and what version it supports. Please reference previous posts for more information about this program. Take care - Randomness |

I have no idea if this will be helpful or not, but I found it interesting.
I have a converter to allow me to plug an N64 and Playstation controller into my computer through a usb port. It was given to me by a friend, so I don't know the brand, but it looks like this one, except it's black. I also have a Radeon IGP 320M chipset. Now, this is the good part. For some strange reason, having this adapter plugged into either of my usb ports, whether a controller is plugged into the adapter or not, lets me watch videos with modded drivers newer than the recommended version 4.10. It only appears to work with this adapter, as I tried using other usb devices to see what would happen with no success, though I only tried a couple flash drives, a usb hard drive, and another controller made to plug into a usb port. If anyone finds something else that helps, it'd be cool to know about it. I have no idea what makes this work, or if it will work for anyone else. I'm posting this both as a possible workaround for people who happen to have this adapter, as well as to see if anyone can make use of this information to find a solution that might be implemented in the drivers, if people are still looking for one. If there's anything I can check on my end that would be useful, let me know. Hopefully, this will be helpful to some of you. P.S. Please don't buy this adapter just to fix video playback unless you're willing to assume the risk it might not work. I have no idea why it works for me, just that it does.

Hi there, just a short question: Is the IGP 350M just a newer version of the 345? I want to buy a "new" notebook. The HP nc4010. This notebook has a IGP 350M built in. Which drivers would work on this notebook? Another one: What´s about the M6? Ist this one older or newser than the IGPs? At the moment I´m using a notebook with an ATi Rage Mobility M6 and the Omega-Driver 3.8.330 works just fine with this one.

Hello Murhagh:
The Radeon IGP 350M is a variant of the 345M. It seems to support Catalyst 5.6 from HP's driver database. If memory serves, this is one of the variants of the 34xM series that doesn't suffer from a DVD playback issue when newer drivers are modded and installed. However....keep in mind that the Radeon IGP 3xxM chipset was released in 2002, and the graphics core it uses is based on graphics technology from 2000. It is based on the first generation of the Radeon GPU. At the moment, ATi is preparing to release its 7th generation. Hope this info helps. Good luck and take care. - Randomness |

I tried to reinstall my XP from scratch - it didn;t help When I tried to use linux there were no problems with it. Vista - also WI-FI card works fine. But! There is no driver for my video card (ATI RADEON IGP 340M) and also PCI Controller: Simple Communications I tried to install video driver from XP version - now I see the name of my video card in Device Manager - but it does not work (error 12, windows could not allocated resources on this device) May anyone tell me - am I possible to install drivers for Vista for this video? I found this http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php do I have to try this one? Anyway - thanx for any help... |

I use Nero Directshow, Media Player Classic, and VLC Player to watch videos. For video codecs, I've installed DivX 6.8 and ffdshow. This worked even before I had ffdshow installed though, so I doubt it's needed. For audio codecs, I've installed AC3 Filter. If anything else is used for codecs, it's whatever came on the computer. I'm not sure how I would check that if you need me to though. My computer has USB 1.1 ports. I think that covers it. If you need anything else, let me know. Hope this helps.

Hi, people.
My first post here! Now, to the point: I made some research concerning impact of various drivers on my 320M graphics card. My laptop is Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A7600, Athlon 2500+, 512MB 133MHz DDR, 40GB 4200RPM. Shared memory in BIOS: 64MB. I installed AGP GART suggested here and IDE drivers from ULI package. Testing procedure: uninstall driver, use Driver Cleaner, reboot in safe mode, use Driver Cleaner, install driver, reboot, wait for system to load, run tests. I tried to run 3DMark twice, but the score went higher by 8pts. I also run 3DMark once in low quality settings (ATI Control Panel), and the score went from 1704 to 1788 on catalyst 5.6. I used 3DMark 2001 and Stars OpenGL benchmark (sort of). Stars gives a lot of information in output file, but it measures time of generation of fixed amount of frames. I chose average framerate x100 as indicator, because it fits nicely with 3dmark score on one graph. The results are here: Image HostingDrivers 4.10 to 5.12 are Omega versions, 5.13 is the mobility WHQL mentioned here quite a few times, 6.04** is the modded 6.04 with added OpenGL (also posted here). As you can see, 3DMark scores are fairly consistent through 5.xx and 6.xx family, the best I got is from generic 6.4 drivers, but by very slight margin. OpenGL performance is the best with 5.9 drivers, and this is confirmed by other (very old) OpenGL benchmark: VideoGL1. Unfortunately I can't force OpenOffice to make graph from it's results One more thing: version 4.10 reports 65 OpenGL extensions, any further version has 66 (as checked by OGL ExtView). I hope this would stop a few of those "What driver is the best?" questions here. Drivers newer than 6.11 don't work with my card, so they most likely won't with your. Of course, overlay playback is broken with any drivers newer than 4.10. In my case even with VMR renderers were unacceptable, because I had an area (triangle: left top, top middle, left middle) that always lagged a frame or two ![]() Hope this helps a few people out there. Feel free to ask for details, I'll drop here from time to time ![]() Oh, don't fret too much about the comma-colon thing. I have colon as fractional separator where I live , sometimes it annoys the hell out of me.

Right-Click your display adaptor, and select "Update Driver", "Browse My Computer...", "Let me pick from a list...", then untick "Show compatible hardware", and select "RADEON IGP 340" from the "ATI Technologies inc." section. Ignore the "PCI Controller Simple Communications" entry - it's just the internal dial-up modem. |

Vista, IGP 34xM and code 12 error
Hello all:
I’ve been loaded down with work and school. I’ll try to catch up with the posts in this thread as soon as I can. As I have mentioned several times before any and all advise is given without warranty, and conducted at your own risk. UltraMax: What version of BIOS are you running on your Evo N1000c? According to HP, the newest BIOS is F.0D A. If you are not using this version, try upgrading to it and you should notice the code 12 will resolve itself in vista. If you are running this version, than it is unlikely that you will be able to get the Radeon IGP going in vista because this is a BIOS ACPI error, and can only be corrected my the manufacture. However, changing the UMA settings to 32MB in your BIOS settings may provide a workaround, however the IGP won’t be cable to handle gaming or other extensive graphics handling. You can access your model’s ROMPaq and driver information here. For your modem, you should be able to install the XP driver for it, however, if the driver is really outdated, it may not work. Best of Luck, take care - Randomness |

Hello Zurdin:
From the sounds of it, and the nature of the Presario 2100 series, you have 512MB of RAM installed, with 128MB of it allocated to the UMA for the Radeon IGP 340M. You can install a maximum of 1GB in this system (i.e. 2x 512MB DDR SODIMMs). Although i have heard that some people have had success by installing 1x1GB and 1x256MB to 1280MB RAM. I am not sure what you mean by "clone" onto the TV. If you want what is on your LCD to be what is to be on the TV, you need to disable the "Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor" option. This option is locatied in the "Settings" Tab of the "Display" applet in "Control Panel". I would recommend sticking with your curent drive because it provides the best functionality for manipulating TV and external output. Hope this information is useful. Take care - Randomness |

Hello mar@sco:
What is the model of your notebook? I would recommend staying with Catalyst 4.4 to 4.9 drivers for best overall functionality. michalpelszyk: More information of driver preformance information can be found on page 9 of this thread. Thank your for providing an easy to read graphical summary. What playback program were you using with VMR that had the frame tearing? VMR uses a lot more memory / cpu power than overlay. If soemthing is running in the background, it can cause said image disturbances. Pleae note, all Catalyst 6.6 and newer drivers do not work with the Radeon IGP 3xxM series IGPs. There is however a "pre-300 GPU" verion of Catalyst 6.11. Anything older than the R300 core (anything older than a Radeon 9550) won't work with the new Catalyst drivers out there. Take care, have fun - Randomness |

Hello ElvaQuito:
WoW needs a modded Catalyst driver version 5.10 to 6.5 to run "properly" on the IGP 3xxM GPUs. Please note that you will need to set your UMA to at least 128MB to get any half-playable frame rates. Given that your system only has 512MB of memory, you will run into a preformance bottle neck, and the game may not be playable at all. From what i've read about the Tech Coded KE notebooks (includes your model series) from HP, if your system is using a Celeron-M CPU, it will be using an Intel socket 479 or 495 for mobile intel processors. If it is a standard celeron (i.e. not the mobile version), than your notebook is likely using a Intel Socket 478. If you have a P4 that is a socket 478, than yes, you may be able to upgrade to the new processor. Keep in mind that you do said upgrades at your own risk. Also note that the faster processor requires more powr and will generate more heat. make sure the ehatsinks are clean and seated with proper amounts of thermal compound. best of luck, take care. - Randomness |

Thanks Nom. I am going to try making an updated version of the 6.4 based on the hybrid 6.11 drivers. and i'll also mod a version of the infamous 4.10 soon too. I'll put them on temp servers when their ready, if you could host them, that would be great.

For Media Player Classic, I use VMR9 (renderless). For VLC, I'm not using overlays. I can't find the rendering modes, but I'm using the DirectX output module, though that probably doesn't narrow it down much. For Nero Showtime, I can't find anything about rendering modes, so I have no idea. I know disabling overlays is supposed to help make things work, but even with overlays off, I need to plug in the adapter, so I assume I missed something in getting video to run properly without it. Not that that's really an issue for me. Turning overlays on gives me the same results as having them off in the first two players.

Hello people!
I've been using an old but still quite strong HP Compaq nx9005 with the IGP 320M. While being about 4 years oly, actually if it wasn't for this shitty card, this notebook would be on par with anything I can buy new for around 500 euros. That's why I'd be happy if I finally managed to resolve this last problem. ![]() I use XP Pro with the modded 6.4 drivers and the maximum amount of video RAM (I beleive it's 256Mb on this machine), which gives an acceptable 3d performance. However, if I try to use overlays, the system just dies. With overlays turned off and the DirectX VMR turned on (with "high quality mode"), I can play even HD resolution divX videos perfectly. With DVDs though, the bottlenecks start to show, and the scaling looks horrible. It looks somehow as if a 10-year-old redrew the scenes with crayons. Well anyway, since I prefer to watch DVDs on a DVD player, this is not a real issue. It's much more irritating that one can accidentally freeze the system quite easily. For example the video player in the nokia pc suite for my smartphone can't be persuaded not to use overlays. Can't the overlay function be disabled from the driver itself? I mean, what happens now looks somewhat like this: media player app: Hey, video driver, what have you got? video driver: I have DX9 vmr and overlays. media player app: Great! Give me an overlay, I'm sending over the data. video driver: Overlay opened... erm... something's wrong. *croak* Now, what I'd be happy to see is something like this: media player app: Hey, video driver, what have you got? video driver: I have DX9 vmr. media player app: What? No overlays? video driver: That's right, no overlays. media player app: Geez... Well then, give me a DX9 vmr. video driver: Here you go. *and everyone lived happily ever after* Another thing. There was a mention of the ATI mobility drivers on station-drivers.com. Now, instead of the 5.13 driver mentioned, there is a 6.9 driver that allegedly supports IGP 320M, 340M and 345M. I downloaded and installed it after a heavy driver purge, and guess what. It installed perfectly (though, in contrary to what was said about the 5.13 driver, this one had no Windows logo signature), but no DirectX acceleration at all. Not even DirectDraw acceleration, let alone Direct3d. (according to dxdiag and every DX app available to me) "Overlays" "worked", that is they didn't mess up the system, the only problem was that they were quite obviously software emulated. Scaling was messy and extremely low-quality, and playback was slow. No acceleration whatever. Of course neither did the DX9 VMR provide any acceleration. In fact it was even worse than the "overlays". So I put the modded 6.4 back. If only I could centrally disable overlays. ![]() BTW, is it true that the card works smoother under Vista? I've heard nothing but bad things about Vista and old hardware mixing. Like blue screens of death every day, and such. In fact I haven't seen a BSOD for more than 5 years now, and I'd rather like to keep it that way. |
