Hi all,
First of all, I would like to say Thanks to Randomness and all others that helping people like me to solve to video card problem. I have a Sony PCG-K15 laptop with IGP 345M videocard. I installed Vista 6000 but the video looks messy (real bad), I can't watch video files. Then I choose to install its driver from a backup (of Windows XP). The video now look OK (still slow) but I can't get Aero to work. I've tried many other Catalyst pack, even the latest one, but I never can install it. (I've tried the Modtool also but no luck). Randomness and others, please help me if you know how to make it possible. Thank you very much. Have a great day, and please pardon my English. Saigonian |

Hello again,
Saigonian: The Radeon IGP 3xx chiposet series does not support the advanced Aero features of Vista. These features require a WDDM driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 hardware support, DirectX 9.0c API hardware support, and at least 256MB of graphics memory. This chipset series is too old to support Vista's advanced Aero-Glass (transparency), or 3D-Flip features. HPLaptopUser: Please reference further back in this thread regarding drivers and preformance. Make sure you have the most up-to-date BIOS from HP available. DO NOT use any Catalyst version newer than 6.5 or you'll runn into problems with BSODs. (see previous posts on the confusion regarding Catalyst 6.11 for info) You system meets the minimum requirments to run the game. However, i stress minimum, and these requirements are still subject to change. However if you do intend to use the game, i would suggest changing your UMA graphics memory setting to 128MB ; Your system is currently set to share 64MB of your RAM with the Radeon IGP ; You can change this setting in your BIOS. You will need to press F1, or F2, or Del (i think HP systems use F1 or F2) at your OEM logo when your system turns on. Change the "UMA" setting to 128MB. Your system may need more memory to improve preformance (ie 1 GB installed with UMA at 128MB give you 896MB of system RAM for XP and Game code. which should provide better preformance than 640MB of system RAM. But again, the minimum system requirements for the game are not finalized yet, so it is possible it may not be playable using this older graphics solution. Good luck, and take care. - Randomness |

Hello everybody!!!
I would like to know what is the lastest version of the gart pilote for my ati radeon igp 340. If someone has a link or an idea please give it to me. I would like to update the agp drivers to fix a problem with a powercolor 9600 pro i've installed and it's not working! Code 43 in device manager:In Windows Vista 32bit or 64bit versions, the Device Manager will show a (!) mark and the AGP card will operate in PCI mode only. When the properties of the device are shown, the error code will show as code 43. You should update latest AGP drivers for the North bridge chipset on your motherboard please verify with your motherboard's documentation or the manufacture directly to find out what type chipset you have on your motherboard thanks for your answers!!!! My motherboard is a saphhire axion a4 northbridge (igp 340or rs200) southbridge (VIA vt82c686) I have the vista business edition, my computer has a 2.00ghz celeron with 1.00gb ram |

hi,
I'm having some problems with my Compaq Evo n1015v (igp320m), and in trying to upgrade memory have run into a problem. With a single 512mb stick, I can install HP drivers ok, but when I put 2 512mb sticks in, I get blue screens with the video drivers. It runs great if I dont' install video drivers with the 1mb of memory (faster than 512 with or without vid drivers), hence why I want to keep the memory. thanks in advance |

Hello again,
adc283: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4695.html You can download a ATI package that has the required ATI GART driver you seek. However the actual ATI Catalyst display driver may or may not be compatible with your IGP 340 (depends on if they put in support for pre-300 radeon cores to include support for the IGP 340). If this is the case, when you try to install the package, you will get an error. Simply exit the install when you get the error. The package would have expanded itself into your c:\ATI\Support directory. Here you can isolate and install just the GART driver. Using the GARTnt.inf file and Device Manager, or using the ATIGART.exe silent installer program. batorok: From the sounds of it, your probelm is stemming from either 1) bad memory, or 2) corrupted BIOS that isn't mapping the memory properly for your IGP 320M UMA (Unified Memory Architecture) system. Try testing your memory, and update your BIOS to the latest version available for your notebooks model. (HP indicated the newest BIOS version is F.0B) which you can download from here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=hb-18063-1 In your BIOS, look for the UMA setting, and set it to "64MB" or "128MB", not "Auto". I would also suggest either cleaning out your old OEM drivers (including the ATI GART driver) with an old DriverCleaner Pro (free version, see google.com) or using the ATI Catalyst Uninstaller tool which you can find here: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206...ninstaller.exe If that link doesn't work, goto ati.amd.com, search for "ATI Maintenance Utilities" and download the cat-uninstaller.exe program (300KB) If cleaning out the old drivers, and re-installing a fresh OEM driverset still leads to problems, i strongly suggest a system re-load. (assuming it isn't hardware problems with memory or BIOS). Please reference back in this long thread regarding where to find Radeon IGP 320M GART and A Radeon drivers if you have trouble finding OEM drivers. Good luck, take care. - Randomness |

Vista driver issue
Hi all,
I've just installed Vista Home Basic on my presario 2197ca laptop. Everything works fine but the audio... I can't find a driver anywhere. I know many of you in this thread have the same notebook (or some presario 2100/pavillion ze4000 derivative) - has anyone gotten sound working in Vista? The audio chip used in these machines is the Conexant CX20468-21 (aka "Conexant AC-Link Audio" in XP SP2). I tried using the XP drivers - they install fine, but the machine just locks up whenever a sound is played. I am running the latest BIOS (v1.60) and all updates are installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, RDA2 |

awesome job!
First of all, Respect to Randomness, Alexl55 and everyone else who contributed to this thread.
Then to business: I got myself a used Amilo A laptop. Can“t really tell the exact model, since it doesn“t read anywhere in it. The basic driver it came with was ok, but I wanted to update it. By using the incredible mobility modder by Patje (thanks mate) and 6.8 catalyst drivers I got myself new drivers. Since the setup was new I didn“t have time to test it much, but it worked fine and dandy. Then I got possessed by demons and started wanting more: for some idiotic reason I downloaded a newer set of omega drivers and manually removed previous drivers. Alas, now I“m unable to install any drivers whatsoever. The adapter is showing with an exclamation mark in the device manager, so the reason must be GART drivers. I“ve been trough this thread and tried to install some of the drivers without success.. Unfortunately some of the links were old and I couldn“t locate certain files. I“m banging my head against the wall here since the machine worked fine 2 days ago. What more diagnosctic data would you want me to give you to solve this misery? The Chipset is 320M IGP XP Home edition with SP2 Athlon XP 1,6Ghz 768Mb RAM Thanks! |

nevermind...
Unbelievably, trough trial and error, I managed to install gart drivers.
In doing so I had to try systematically every option with numerous driver versions. Installing manually from device manager CAT 6.9 was succesfull in setting up the GART driver. For some reason the auto-installer didn't work. Then I replaced the drivers with Mobility modded CAT 6.4 Now I will never touch my display drivers again on this laptop! ![]() Thanks everyone, You have been a Great Help! /Northmist |

Very Interesting!!
After searching forever for a better video driver to run WoW i stumbled across this forum and managed to get the 5.13B drivers suggested running.
As expected DvD playback has suffered and I've been playing with it off and on in WMP11 trying to get it working correctly. While messing with it today I noticed that byconstantly moving my mouse cursor over the video the DvD played back fine. o_0 Now I'm not a technical guru by any means so could someone shed some light on this for me "Why on earth does my mouse cursor moving in a circular moution constantly over the video make it run normally? My first guess would be that constant mouse movement forces the application playing the video to not use overlays. Last edited by rehullmedia; Apr 16, 2007 at 01:31 AM. Reason: Added a bit of logic |

Hello rehullmedia:
This has been an ongoing issue.... There is a problem with Catalyst Drivers version 4.11 or newer where DVD Playback using the "Overlay Rednering" technique does not product the required FPS for normal viewing. I've been trying to isolate it to either driver memory management or something quicky with the BIOS and using newer drivers. But alas, with little success. With regards to your observation, moving the mouse over the image would effectively force the frame buffer to have to refresh more frequently, in particular where the move is being moved (such as the overlay portion of the screen). Hence the better FPS rate. Conversly, using VMR (Video Mixing Rendering), the effect is reversed in some older systems, where moving the mouse over the VMR rendered movie causes image tearing or the FPS to slow down. All of this has to do with what portions of the video are processed by the GPU hardware (more specific to Overlay) and what parts of the movie is rendered by the CPU (more specific to VMR). At this time, i haven't any ideas to take advantage of your new observation, but it certainly is an oddity new to this thread, and this chipset's history. Have fun, Good luck. - Randomness |

I have to admit that recently i installed win Vista in both my Compaq nx9005 & my main pc since they begin to overcome the initial lack of maturity symptoms. As a result i face the same problem as RDA2 does. No audio driver for conexant in vista...Do you think that we'll ever see one?? Btw randomness, i installed your custom made vista driver and it is sweeeet!!! THNX so much Best Regards, aLeXz

Hello:
At the moment, i have preferred to dual boot my notebook with XP and Linux. But from the notes i made while i was playing with Vista, i believe i was able to get sound working (...albiet sometimes unstable....) using the WDM drivers for the ALi/ULI 5451 Audio device. Specifically, the Conexant AC-Link Audio lists itself in Device manager with the Hardware ID VEN_10B9&DEV_5451 ; this device relates to the ALi 1535+ southbridge commonly used with the Radeon IGP 320M northbridge. You can download the "latest" ALi/ULi from nVidia here: http://www.nvidia.com/page/uli_drivers.html Newest version listed as "Integrates220" It comes as a ZIP packages. Which unpacks into an InstallShield Executable. You can use 7z to decompress this executable, and extract the WDM Audio driver. Then just manually update your Audio driver in device manager. I would suggest caution, as i am unsure if this will work on all Vista configurations. My notes date back to Beta 1 and 2, and not necessarily for RC1 or the RTM versions. As always, you do these modifications at your own risk. Good luck, and take care - Randomness |

Hello,
I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K37 with Radeon IGP 345M. I recently installed Windows Vista on my laptop, but I triedo to search trough the Sony website for the Driver and I can't find it, either on ATI's website. How can I be able to update my laptops video driver? It says its using a Generic PnP Driver, and my screen looks so ugly; it's a widescreen using a resolution of 1024x768. Regards, Andre |

Hello Dasheron:
The Radeon IGP 345M driver is built into Vista, and the shipset series is no longer supported by ATi, hence no further driver updates are expected any time soon. However your problem is not with its driver. It is with the resolution setting of your notebook's display. In Vista, open up the Run window. You may have to search for it in your start menu if it is not enabled. Or press the Windows Key + R Enter: compmgmt.msc Navigate to Device Manager, Expand Monitors in the right hand list of devices. Right click on your Generic PnP Monitor, and click Update. When the update wizard loads, choose "Browse my computer for driver software", next click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", Uncheck the "Show compatible hardware"; In the new set of lists, on the left hand side, scroll to "(Standard monitor types)", in the right hand side, scroll to "Digital Flat Panel (1280x960 60Hz)" If you encounter problems, double click on the flat panel entry in device manager, in the driver tab click "roll back driver" ** you may need to do this in safe mode if the display is too corrupted. If that doesn't work, try using a program called PowerStrip. It will allow you to tweak your monitor resolution manually. You do these modifications at your own risk. Good luck, and take care. - Randomness |

I had to join driverheaven.net just to thank you most sincerely, Randomness, for your amazing dedication and hard work on this chipset. You've saved my son's laptop (and my sanity)!! I was tearing my hair out trying to find some (any!!) support for the Radeon IGP 320M in the second-hand WinXPSP2 Presario 2199us my son was given -- so he could finally play WoW on a machine other than mine.
(I installed the Catalyst 4.10 drivers as you recc'd first off, and set the UMD in the BIOS to 128MB before diving into anything further... and right off the flicker and lack of texture that was plaguing WoW vanished. Amazing what one little (correct) file can do! I have yet to check the DVD playback, but at least I know where to come for help.) Huge thanks. Your dedication and the easy, plain-language way you describe what's what with this orphaned chipset is above and beyond the call, man. :-) You're amazing. Thank you so much!! |

Suicide is imminent
I've been through this topic over and over and I just need help with a few problems.
Firstly: XP Pro SP 2 Compaq Presario 2500 IGP 345M 64MB etc etc I just reformatted my hard drive and resinstalled everythign with all the old stuff, which I've done before so I knew what to do. I just had to install the Omega drivers I had before to smooth out the scrolling and make everything work. however, I chose the newest ones, which I had no idea existed yet and everything was fine up until I installed DirectX 9.0c. It kept changing my resolution to 1024 x 768. I was messing with the Omega tools and accidentally set my default resolution to somethign I couldnt' possibly use and everytime I restarted my computer it would just be black, so I did a system restore to when I installed DirectX 9.0c. For whatever reason, I still had my bigger resolution, but if I went to "dxdiag" then it would change it again. All this time I hadn't played any games so I try to play my ZSNES emulator and it simply wouldn't work properly. So that's when I began to look around the intarweb and found here. (it didn't work because Direct3d was greyed out and I couldn't properly access it) Now, I uninstalled the drivers, used that tool and then installed Catalyst 7.3 with the Patje tool you mentioned. However, I wasn't sure if I should have gotten an older version. I don't play WoW, I don't have Vista. I just want my ZSNES to work properly! I'm not asking for much. Video playback is fine. But then, I was stil having problems and couldn't test direct3d so I installed my old drivers over top the Catalyst 7.3, which I know is probably not a good idea. But it worked and now I have direct3d. Now the problem is, it's not good enough. I want that bigger resolution. And in ZSNES, I can't set my resolution to anything that high either, which I normally could. So what's my best bet? Should I get older Omega's again? Or is there some benefit to having Catalyst 4.1-4.7 or the 5.13 I see being mentioned often. Again, I don't play Wow, and I just want this for basic games, nothing too advanced. At best, Warcraft III if I ever get bored enough. So what do you suggest? I just want a higher resolution! Last edited by Panacea; May 2, 2007 at 07:09 AM. |

Hello all, I am wondering if it's possible to overclock the 340M with Radclocker (ver 2.03). Running X-plane flight sim just fine at around 25 fps, however my Clearview RC flight sim drops to a frame rate of 3 fps when i am trying to fly the helicopters. It will run at 17-19 fps for the planes. The author of the Clearview flight sim told me that the helis have more pixels and require a better graphics card. unfortunately I got the game to practice for my real RC heli while I am traveling, and really don't want to get a new laptop. If it's possible what would be a max clock and memory rate? Are there some settings in the control panel I can change to increase the frame rates?
Thanks for the help, Meldar9 System specs: Compaq Presario 2135US Celeron 1.8 Win XP(SP1) 640MB Ram IGP 340M ATI driver ver 6.4 |

Hello:
Panacea: As this thred has stated before. The best driver to use for older games while mantaining DVD Overlay rendering playback is Catalyst 4.10 ; If DVD Overlay playback isn't something you use frequently, or you intend to experiment with DVD VMR playback, than i would suggest the mentioned Catalyst Version 6.4 in the previous posts. Any Catalyst Version 6.6 and newer (especially Catalyst 7.x) are completely incompatible with the Radeon IGP 3xxM series chips. At best these drivers *may* allow 2D support....but just barely. And in most systems they usually lead to BSODs. 1)I suggest you uninstall / delete / clean-out any current drivers from your system. If you can, try finding one of the older, free versions of Driver Cleaner 1.5 (this can be found with the posted 6.4 driver). 2) Install the newest HP ATi Catalyst driver package for you system. You can find it here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...os=228&lang=en It is given as version 8.003.3-040515a-016016C which is a OEM modified version of Catalyst 4.4 ; This driver has provided the best stability so far. 3) if this driver doesn't fix your game play issues, manually update the driver to either Catalyst 4.10 or 6.4 ; It is important that the OEM driver be installed first, otherwise you may encounter LCD resolution issues. meldar9: From past experiments, overclocking the IGP 3xxM doesn't yeild much improvement in terms of FPS gains. However, you could try using a program called PowerStrip. It is a very useful program for tweaking resolutions and GPU clock speeds. PowerStrip: http://entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm The memory clock speed cannot be adjusted. This is due to the hardware design of the IGP 3xx ; This chip is also the system memory controller, and hence the only way to overclock the memory bus would be to overclock the CPU, which is tricky, and risky at best. Most laptops don't support enough heat managment, or BIOS resources to allow overclocking. The GPU runs normally at 160MHz. You can probably overclock it safely up to 200MHz, however this is strickly dependent on the cooling systems your notebooks has, and whether they are running efficiently. If you system locks up when you overclock the GPU, shut down the system immidiately and restore the original GPU setting if the program hasn't already done so. You do such things at your own risk. Although the IGP 3xx is farely tolerant to overclocking, you still risk damaging / destroying it if it overheats too much. And as i said, even when overclocked, the preformance gains are marginal. I have found the best way to increase preformance for this chip is to install at least 768MB of memory (1 GB recommended), and set the UMA to 128 MB in the BIOS. Take care, good luck. - Randomness. |

Thank you very much for your succinct response.
I have done all of that. I noted that I had no problems with the standard drivers that HP suggests, however...I figure the whole reason to update them is because the newer ones might offer added performance. I assume that anyway. I updated it to 6.4 and still no problems, assuming these overlay problems don't show up later. (You need overlay for subtitles and the like, yes?) Howeverrrrr, I just want bigger resolution. Is that so much to ask from my computer? I noticed that without any drivers, it would display it in a higher resolution, but with them the max is 1024 x 768. It also likes to show that there's two monitors. Not sure why. Maybe it's because i have my laptop hooked up to a monitor because my laptop's screen's broken. The second one of which says the resolution can go up much higher, but obviously mine is the 1st. I put a check mark next to "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" hoping it would just make this monitor the same resolution. But it just made everything appear on ...the very very far left of my monitor and I couldn't manage to change it back so I just did system restore and installed it again. So... at this point I'm just trying to get a higher resolution. I tried the Power Strip but couldn't manage to manipulate my resolution. This monitor is fully capable of it, so I don't know why there's no option. If you manage to solve this, I'll dedicate a haiku to you. |

Well, after some google searching of my own I decided to just use the handy help files and figured out that there were some options I was overlooking in the advanced sections. Now it's set to a higher resolution and thus far things are running smoothly. (Although, .bin files don't seem to be working, but I don't think that's because of all of this.) (gahhhh)

Do I download the 4.10 Normal version or the 4.10 CCC version for my IGP 320?
I've read through the entire thread from the first to last. I got to say, Ramdomness is a very admirable selfless individual that is nearly extinct in today's society. He's been helping people on this obsolete IGP chipset one after another over the course of 2 years! wow! Thanks Randomness! |

Hello jacky89:
Download the normal version of Catalyst 4.10 that was bundled with the ATi Control Panel. I have found most systems with the IGP 320M don't function well with ATI CCC (Catalyst Control Centre). You can use patje's mobility modder to modify the INF to add the necessary device codes so the setup will run. (http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool) thanks for the support, take care, have fun, and good luck, - Randomness |

Randomness,
I tried the modtool and it says that it detected an old driver in ATI\Support folder. The only driver I have is 4.10. That means the new mobility modder doesnt support Catalyst 4.10? Thanks! |

Hello Again,
The newest modtool is not compatible with older catalyst drivers. I forgot how much the catalyst driver structure has changed since version 4.10. I will post a method of manually modding the necessary INF file soon. If you feel adventurous, you could try the following: (things might be slightly different, this is strickly from the top of my head) * i suggest making a restore point before you do anything * you do these modifications at your own risk. Open the INF c:\ATI\Support\{arbitrary directory of Catalyst 4.10}\Driver\2K_XP\CX_xxxxxx.INF with notepad Find the Device code of the desktop "Radeon IGP 320", It should look something like this: "Radeon IGP 320" = ati2mtag_A3, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4136 Change it to this: "Radeon IGP 320M" = ati2mtag_A3, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4336 Save your changes, and then manually install the driver through Device Manager. Please reference previous posts on how to do this. I would also recommend referencing any previous posts regarding modifying the INF for the IGP 3xxM chipset for further information. Again, i'll post a better method to modifying the INF soon, or at least post an older copy of the Mobility Mod tool v2.2 (try googling it) when i get a chance to go through my software archives. Best of luck, take care. - Radomness |

Thanks Randomness. As of now, I messed up my drivers by using Driver Cleaner Pro without first uninstalling the OMEGA 4.9, such that now any version of the Catalyst setup.exe says it can not detect the proper inf and I must install the standard vga driver. However, Windows XP SP2 does not allow me to select a standard vga driver. I got around that by not running it from the setup.exe and using the plug & play hardware detect to look for the (old 4.4) drivers and install it that way. Then I installed the 5.11 Control Panel separately. It now works, but I would still like to be able to use 4.10 drivers. Right now, if I point Add Hardware to the 4.10 drivers, it does not show IGP 320. I will try searching for the mod tool v2.2 or wait for your better method. As of now, I am pretty satisfied with 4.4 drivers with 4.11 control panel.
Thanks! |
