Cannot install any display driver, error message at end of installation

My problem is that i can't install any ati display driver (old mobility driver that came with the computer or new modded 5.13 driver) without getting an error message at the end of installation.

The message is: "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."

After installation my card doesn't work and wants to install a driver.

The problem occurred the first time when I was installing the new cat 5.13 drivers. I was ofcourse using the mobility modder (v.3).

Please help!

My specs are:

Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D8830 laptop with:

ATI 9000 Mobility Radeon
3.06Ghz Pentium 4 HT
512 Mb DDR RAM

Try the drivercleaner (found on this site). And then try to install drivers. I had same problems as you but got it working eventually. I have an igp320m graphic card and I think you have to install something called GART drivers (I don't know exactly) - if you have igp320m. I think these drivers link your motherboard with your graphics accelerator so that windows can find them. Then install video drivers...Im not sure about this but that's how I understand it and it worked for me...If this does not work, you should contact your notebook manufacturer and ask them. Good luck!!

Thanks for the help! I used the driver cleaner utility and then managed to successfully install the drivers.
