HELP?! I updated my driver and know HL2 LAAGS!!!?

I downloaded the newest catalyst... And the catalyst only... No CCC.... Only the display driver...
And i used the DH mod tool3 to get it to work on my laptop....
And now HL2 laags??? Why..? Before i updated HL2 run without lag... (Sometimes seconds of lag came... But that was always... After lets say 5 min. playing...Etc)

But now it lags...?
Why???
I also saw a good change... Before i updated i couldnt see that man talking at the beginning of the game... And now i can??? Does it has something to do with that??? Maybe the driver activated something that lets the requirements be higher at HL2... For exampel... Better grafics
What to do....?...
