X600se on a Toshiba M50-196 performance issues

Hi there

I just got this new laptop and I love it for production work. But when it comes to graphics performance it really sucks. I didnt bought it for gamming anyway (I have a desktop for that) but I would like to see how far can I improve this because its really ridiculous...

The laptop specs is:
Centrino 1.86 with 2mb L2 cache
1GB ddr333 RAM
Ati X600se with 64mb dedicated RAM and 64mb shared using HyperMemory technology
80gb HD 5440 rpm

Win XP pro with SP2
Latest omega drivers downloaded today

When running 3dmark 06 (the free limited version) I get a score of about ~1200. The maximum fps I got it to do was between 5 to 8, with a tendency to 5. Before installing omega drivers I was getting from 2 to 5!!!

When 3dmark is running the tests the 2nd wave of tests in low resolution are SLOWER than the first ones in hi-res.

I have the latest omega drivers installed, donloaded today. The omega drivers are acually faster than the

So... any tips on how to make this laptop graphics performance a bit less lame?

Also Omega drivers reports me that the board has 256mb when it should detect only 128mb... not sure if this is related with the problem.

TIA

best regards
