Driver problems with Radeon mobility 9000

Hi
I have just bought a Medion 5219 with a built in Radeon mobility 9000 graphics card. I have tried the correct driver from Medion and the modified Destop driver also from Medion using DHmodtool3, still with the same results. The display is corrupted with lots of white dots across the screen during boot-up. DVD playback has got a lot of vertical lines and looks greenish. However, if I remove the Catalyst drivers, the playback is ok, but I have no control over the colour and overlay,etc.I wonder whether this is a hardware problem or the driver is itself not compatible. The latest Catalyst from ATI does not support the the Mobility 9000.I modified it using DHmodtool3 still didn't help.Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated !
Windows XP Home edition with Service pack 2
Pentium 4 2.4GHz
512MB RAM
30GB HHD
