ATI 9700 graphic glitching

Hi all I have a Z80 notebook from ASUS and I have gone over this forum for a few hours and tried many things but nothing seems to work.
My friends have this same notebook and we all have the issue.
Specs are
AMD 3000+
Radeon 9700 Mobil
1GB memory
And what happens is pretty much any game I get into or even sometimes just sitting in windows my screen goes haywire and seems to fritz out until I reboot. I have just installed the 5.8 Cat with the help of the mod but I still have the problem almost instantly when I enter WoW.
Any ideas ?

I have tried many different versions of drivers but all of them do the same thing !

Thanks in advance for any help

heat? what ambient temperatures are you running your laptop in? does it feel noticably hot?
what are some of the other drivers you've tried? are you overclocking? if you're not, try underclocking your video card with ati tool.
or better yet. get atitool www.techpowerup.com/atitool and run Scan for artifacts. if it goes all crazy again then its either a heat problem or somethings seriously messed with your hardware and you should send it back.

Ok, will give that a shot... I don't think its a heat problem since it doesn't feel very hot and will do it on a fresh boot from being cool for ahwile.
Thanks for the post

Ok, got the atitool and scanned for artifact, it did not find anything and ran fine but the minute I open a game the monitor goes all haywire I have tried the 4.2 driver and all the 5. drivers.
As for heat in the vid card it doesn't seem too hot at all specially since I can do this off a fresh boot.
Do you think a reformatt might help the issue ?

Thanks,
Jonah

System Specs

Looks like you'll have to go back to the latest driver from Asus for your laptop - install that set (after removing all traces of your present driver) and try running the game you've been having problems with...

I have that done right now, I did a complete reformatt and reinstall of windows and just the original drivers and I still am having an issue... Doesn't seem to be as bad now but still there
