Problems with installing driver for 9700
I had problems with my original driver for mobility 9700, programs would run, but minimized most of the times and I was unable to figure out how to fix the problem, so downloaded the newest omega-driver, removed the old one, used drivecleaner and tried to install the Omega-driver.
But I cant get the installation to complete. when I run the setup, after copying the files it says (translated from norwegian) "Try to set up the graphics adapter with a Standard VGA-driver before running the installation program"
I'm a total noob on drivers, and would appreciate some help on this one.

When I use the install new hardware tool in control panel, I get the driver partly, but not properly installed. And when I reboot the computer, its gone...
I've also tried the newest Catalyst driver.

Well, sometimes it takes a day or two...
Anyway, after removing your existing Omega or ATI driverset, can you manually install the Standard VGA driver by right clicking the desktop, clicking Properties, clicking the Settings tab, click Advanced, click the Adapter tab, click Properties, click Driver tab, then click Update Driver and follow that through? That should give you the basic driver foundation that the installer is looking for.
You may want to make use of the Search function here at DH to look for posts dealing with driver installation - there are likely hundreds if not thousands though - but reading some of those should give you a better idea of what to try to do that closely matches your circumstance.
Also, try this thread for a nice list of fixes and suggestions:
Common Problems and Fixes
and look at other posts in the Windows Radeon Display Drivers forum in addition to the posts in this forum - those posts will apply to your installation procedures as well...
Good luck, and welcome to DH. Feel free to post back with any result or other problem you may have...

How did you sort it out? Was the suggestion in this post helpful or did you find your fix elsewhere, or on your own - thousands read without posting to find the answers to these things - you'd be helping...

Actually I fooled around and fixed it myself, just to go back to the forum and find you had adviced me to do the thing I'd just done
But there is one thing that I haven't figured out. The reason that I wanted to replace the driver in the first place. I've read the forum quite thouroughly, but I cant find a solution.
When I try to run a game, it runs, but chances are high that it will get minimized after just one second. When that error occurs, if I try to maximize it just minimizes again. Until now I've just closed the game, rebooted and hoped for better luck next time, but I would be glad to have the solution to the problem.
