Pissed 1024x768 is the highest res for my notebook!!!

Hi. I got a laptop a week ago and I've been struggling with the problem since that time. The problem is that I cannot set my screen resolution higher than 1024x768 pixels. This is really annoying because one of my friends has the very same laptop (the only difference is that his video card is ATI Mobility Radeon 9800, mine is 9000), and he could set the resolution as far as 1400x1050 pixels. When I try to set the resolution higher the screen does not fit the panel size and I have to scroll on the desktop if I want to reach the Start menu for instance.

Laptop: Clevo D430E
Processor: 3066 MHz Mobile Intel 4A
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Monitor: 15"
Video card: ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 64 MB
Display driver: Omega 2.6.53

I tried to use omega drivers and the application called Multires but none of them seemed to be a solution.

I'm getting very upset and very tired, please help me!

Sorry mate... sounds like you can't go above 1024x768.... nothing you can do about it.

The model that your mate has with the 9800 mobility must also have a better, higher res, screen.

Nothin you can do I'm afraid

is your screen an XGA?

XGA's max resolution is 1024x768
SXGA / XGA+ is 1400x1050 or so (some debate here)
UXGA is 1600x1200
