General Confusion
Hey...
So I don't know much about all this stuff, but I wanted to update the driver for my Mobility Radeon 9200.
The problem is, I'm really confused about what driver I'm even supposed to get. ATI's site has been completely unhelpful.
So any help would be great...
Thanks.

Go to omegacorner.com and download the latest ati drivers. They will work for yours and will be better than ATI certified drivers anyways.

Did you try the ATI Mobility drivers? Just go on ATI.com and they should be on the left........

You could also try the dhzp drivers which are hosted on the driverheaven ftp.
And the official Mobility Catalysts have been removed from the front page. To find them you'll need to go to Drivers and Support button on the top bar, select your OS and then Notebooks with ATI graphics cards. You'll have to download a tool that checks to make sure your videocard is compatible... and it's not. I checked the .inf. But that X7/800 ONLY is wrong and they ought to change it.

The Omegadrive driverset is great, but be aware that a lot of laptops have trouble playing .Avi, .Mov, and other video files with any third party driverset - you'll only know by trying though - and that's part of the fun of it!

I didn't quite understand that last sentence. Is there an official ATI driver I can download for the Mobility Radeon?

yes, but not the 9200. The Official Mobility Catalyst or Catalyst Mobility whatever they call it only supports mobility 9600 9700 9800 x300 x600 x700 x800 and fireGL cards.
read the "ATI To Not Support Older Mobility Cards" thread in this forum, i posted a screenshot of the inf which says which videocards are supported.

Mobility Radeon doesn't support 9200 mob.I advice you also Omega set.As a best cat. version use 4.12 for mobility 9200.

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll have to go with the Omega driver. Is there some simple way I can revert back to what I have now if I have any issues? (sorry, I really don't know much about this)
