Welcome to DH!
According to charts available at Adrian's Rojakpot, the Mobility X800 is made on .13 micron process and contains 160 million transisitors. The X800pro is the desktop version of that and is built on the same process and transisitor count - so should therefore be the same physical size die. The number of available pipelines (12 or 16 within the chip series) I don't think makes a difference in the die size.
However, the latest generation of desktop X800 chips have undergone a die shrink to .11 micron process with the same transisitor count so they should be physically smaller.
Feature wise, the chips look to be comparable - the mobile chips actually have more features to add functionality in the notebook hardware environment. You can read about it at ATI's site...
As far as the chip size for your laptop though, it shouldn't really matter because there is likely only one you can actually buy - do you have a choice of more than one type mobile X800 series graphics card to put in it?
