Mobility 9200 doesnt work with World of Warcraft?

Hi i have an HP zx5180us. Whenever i run the game world of warcraft, it restarts my computer after about 2minutes.

I researched my graphics card, the ati mobility9200 and it's not compatible with directx9.0c but the game requires directx9.0c

I tried installing the omega catalyst 5.6 driver at no avail. Does anyone have any suggesstions or have the same graphic card and had the same problem running world of warcraft or any games...

if someone could help piont me in any direction or give me a solution or tell me that there's no way i'll ever get to play this game on my laptop then please let me know.

Thanks.

I belive your card is compatible with DirectX 9.0c, just not a DirectX 9.0 card... so as long as you have the DirectX 9.0c software installed you should be good to go. I think WOW will actually run on much older cards..... which doesnt really explain why you are crashing. I would check your other drivers and makes sure they are up to date for starters....

I've got the HP zx5190us, with the 9600 64dedicated, 128 shared card. It reads it's the 9200 in most areas, though. Even on Hp's site it says it's a 9200, but I know it's the 9600. Anyway, it's hardly any different than yours, and it handles directX 9.0c. My latest game is Battlefield 2. Now, I'm playing in low and medium settings because it's a resource hog, but it handles it around 40 to 60 FPS most of the time. I'm almost positive you can run 9.0c. Check the micro$oft website and try downloading it, or check HP for driver updates. Also, I'm running Omega's latest 5.7 cats.

Hey, How's your power jack holding up at the rear of your laptop? Does it ever start running on the battery while it's plugged in?

Eh, I just read ATI's site. According to them, the 9600(Which I have) is the first mobility card to support 9.0, so, I'm all out of suggestions. Good luck!

Just keep in mind, that for the most part DirectX 9.0c will install on just about any video card... reguardless if the video card itself supports Dx 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 instructions... If you had an old 8.0 card... then installed 9.0c... you card would still perform 8.0 and earlier instructions in hardware, and any 9.0 instuctions would be handled by software/CPU.

Other that than.. I dunno why its not working. Maybe it has rabies.
